Midwest DJ's Live is a decent show, if you're fairly local definitely worth checking out, seems to be growing every year

I'm sorry... it would have to be a KILLER show to get me to go to Racine, Wisconsin.[emoji2]

It's placement is based on its proximity to Chicago, Milwaukee, Green Bay, and Madison, thats a decent size population to draw from, I assume as it grows it will eventually move to Chicago, but Racine is a much less expensive place to hold a convention

Yeh... I understand. It's just not much of a draw for people outside of the northern central part of the country IMHO[emoji4]

What with balmy daytime highs in the mid 40's it's a vacation paradise, it's nice to have something for us upper mid-westerners to have something that we don't have to fly to

Good to see they are putting all their extra profits into R&D to build more reliable, higher quality products. :binkybaby:

Not sure why you say that because this vehicle doesn't appear to have anything to do with Numark - aside from showing off some of their equipment, like the Numark NS7II Midi DJ Control Board. Looks like it's a sponsored show vehicle owned by someone other than Numark. The vehicle is called the BatRod.

I have been to A LOT of shows,,, the DJ Times show in AC has always had the best exhibit floor, but I haven't been to an AC show in years mainly because of the focus of the show is not all about the mobile DJ and personally I don't care about the club stuff. Now again, I haven't been in years so that may have changed. The DJ Times show is put on by Testa Communications, now again, going from what I used to know, that they do have more pull with the manufactures because of all the other magazines that Testa puts out. The cost of going to that show is huge with the hotels rooms and so on.

The Mobile Beat show this year was outstanding, you can't judge a show just by the exhibit floor. They stepped up big time with the production, sound and lights, the seminars were fantastic, I would personally liked to have a few more "nuts and bolts" seminars, but that's just me and you aren't going to please everyone 100% of the time.

BUT I feel that this show, the last at the Riviera, will be the one others are judged by overall.

If you weren't there you have nothing to say, you can't judge, comment or anything because,. well, you weren't there.

People saying the attendance is low, well just read this post and see how many didn't come for whatever reason. What is a good reason? Can't be because events got in the way, being Tuesday - Thursday, not really a deal. Also, you can say no to a gig or two to make it to a convention. If your business can't handle you saying no to a event or two a year, you are doing something wrong.

If you say you don't have the money, I ask you this,,,, are you paying taxes come April 15th? If you are, you could be spending that on education and bettering your business and in turn, paying less taxes. If you are getting money back, well, you see where I am going.

It comes down to how important is this to you? Maybe your a part time DJ and working events is "spare change/fun money" to you and you feel you don't need to learn, grow, network, get inspired, motivated. Well then nothing I can say will change your mind. But if you are serious in the world of DJing as a profession, ongoing education is a key.

But come to the Mobile Beat show in 2016 at the Tropicana, then let's talk.

here is a link to the recap video

Yea .. I can't judge the sessions .. I never attend those .. not even in AC. I enjoy the show floor and the networking and the MB show floor just wasn't that good. I will go to AC again this year, since it's just a 4 hour drive from CT, and will probably stay over .. but again, just for the Expo, which I thought had almost twice the companies and better deals overall.

as I said, the AC show always has had the biggest floor of any DJ convention because of the pull of the mother company Testa..... I like a big floor too, but we as DJs also need to support those that are there. I was at a couple of booths and saw guys checking online to see if they could beat the deals by buying from nu-authorized suppliers...

Just like going to any convention and not booking your room through the convention, it shows zero support in the eyes of the hotel.

True, but honestly, I don't owe anything to the hotel, the promoter or the exhibitors. My support is being there. If I stay over in AC, I will look for a good deal (of the few hotels that are left) and will buy something if they have the best price. Mainly, it's to get a chance to see products that I can't look at locally.

Technically, it's called the BatRod. See Post 26 above for more info on the car.

:D

Mixing through McD's drive through - that would be a hoot.

;)
