Well......
It has been a long time since I was stumped for song selections but this one got me.

Next Saturday's wedding couple want instrumental bluegrass songs played for their prelude AND recessional.

They are requesting upbeat fiddle and banjo songs. I searched Itunes and google but didn't have much luck.

They like "Orange Blossom Special" for the recessional but it starts out too slow.

Any suggestions?

EDIT: Foggy Mountain Breakdown will be the recessional song

Upbeat fiddle and banjo?

I suggest "Little Liza Jane" by Alison Krauss from the So Long So Wrong album

Very upbeat, instrumental bluegrass song

Amazon.com for $0.89

Kinda short at only 1:43 though

Do you have an emusic subscription? They have Yonder Mountain String Band which is contemporary but not acceptable by purist standards as they have electricity and drums sometimes. But a lot of younger people like them.

You could look for Sam Nunn and David Grisman songs to be more contemporarily authentic.

There is also a group called the Grassmasters that do Bluegrass versions of Beatles songs. "I've Just Seen A Face" and "Can't Buy Me Love" are upbeat.

If I were getting married to Bluegrass which I won't and wouldn't, I would accept walking down the aisle to nothing less than Deliverance. It would have that touch of ominousness so necessary to a wedding ceremony. (forgot smiley again)

if they have any - wouldnt it be also good to get what they have as well

incase what you buy isnt the same as what they want

when its like that I ask first if they havent got it I try and buy but if its not what they wanted
1. your stuck with music that may never get played again
2. maybe the music you do buy isnt the same as what she already has and doesnt like your selection

I still say ask them and see what they have already

thats why my clause comes in very handy

"All music is subject to availability"

have a nice day

Dennis, of course I did ask and was very detailed in my questions. They both said that they didn't know song names but knew some of the music when they heard it. They said that they trusted my judgement in getting the music and were leaving it up to me.

The story is, her family is all from Kentucky and her mother has always been a huge fan of Bluegrass. As a tribute and surprise to her mother, the prelude and recessional will be Bluegrass.

The groom's mother is Irish so the processional and other selections will be "Irish String Selections" done by a keyboardist. So I don't need to reasearch those selections.
