Facebook ads.....an update

Unless you can attribute any of those 1,075 impressions and 388 engagements with a single new booking, that's far from phenominal (sic) performance.

An impression on the FB-created video ad is probably counted from the moment that it's shown, whereas your uploaded content probably requires 20-seconds or so of viewing to be counted as an impression. There are some other possibilities, too, including that the FB-created video autoplays and your uploaded content does not.

Funny you should mention that. Just got a lead for 12-11, yes, next weekend. It came in on the new website (carolynryanphotography.com), which tells me it came from FB. Not sure if I'll get the job or not but it's less than 72 hours since I started this new campaign. I call that a pretty good sign. As for the videos, I suspect you're correct about the auto-play on the FB slideshow as making the difference. I'm going to just have to keep testing the waters to know for sure what's happening.

Another quick update on Facebook ads. I took out a "Lead Generation" ad. This was a multi-photo slideshow, and the ad has a contact form for the user to fill out. I've been assuming they emailed the lead to you. This was error on my part. Instead, they give you NO notification. You have to go to your Ads Manager and check the status. In my case, it showed 3 leads. I then had to do some googling to figure out you have to go to your biz page and click on Publishing Tools>Lead Ads Forms. You can then download the leads. Kinda screwy that they don't spell it out on how to retrieve and even more bizarre that they don't give you any kind of notification. In fact, as I was going back to check links I discovered that another lead has come in, since 1p (last time I checked). Facebook really could do better at this. I will say though, the ad seems to be working. Out of 2,076 times its been shown, I have 4 leads. I emailed 3 of them this morning and have received replies from 2 and I'm about to email the 4th girl now. Will keep you guys in the loop.

For those 4 leads, how much have you spent on this ad campaign on face book?

I ran a boosted post campaign over the holidays on two posts for an event we were doing it cost me just under $25 for 10K + views I thought that was very reasonable

yeah, FB has issues with notifiacations.
Not too long ago I got FB messenger on my phone - because I had to if I wanted to see any messages. OK, great - then I see 10 or so messages going back YEARS (2012 was oldest).
Seems if you're not a 'friend' on FB the messages don't show IN fb, only on the messenger app... weird to say the least.
So yeah, the 2 brides from 2015..should I send them a quote like they asked now? LOL

Also worth consideration is the difference in value of a warm vs cold lead.
Bridal show attendee contact info is a cold lead, requiring more initial legwork on your behalf.

Facebook, TT, WW etc. are warm leads as they are already showing interest in having you contact them.

So a tad cheaper than thumbtack and no need to compete with 4 other quotes.
Bridal shows here cost me about $3/lead, the list of those attending's contact info. FOr reference.

I won't be surprised to find the end cost is comparable but not having to try and go back to the site to get your money back on leads that don't reply is worth a lot in my book. If I end up at <$10 per lead and can get somewhere around a 25% closing rate I will be beyond thrilled. At that point, it just becomes a simple math game on calculating how much work you want, then take out the right number of ads to do the job. I went back this morning and took down all my display FB ads and put up another lead generating ad, running it for the next month. I also took advantage today of a yelp offer of $300 in free ads (basically a free month of advertising) to see what it will do. I'd much rather work with ad platforms where you get quick and easy means of gauging ROI. WW and TK are just way too vague and never seem to come through with much more than the ad paying for itself.

Not a lot of people are using BING, but I have my Bing Ads campaign optimized to where I am only paying between .39 and $1.50 per click now. The last click I paid 39 cents. ...Only 1 click through in the last 7 days though. ...It slowed down since the holidays. I was getting 2 clicks a day on there in November.

It's a lot cheaper than using Google Adwords. However, it's BING...Only about 1/10 as many users actively searching on there.
I decided to keep my adwords campaigns running through Valentines Day before I make any rash decision to abandon the advertising...But if I don't book anything off of Google or Bing between now and V Day, the ads are definitely gone. At the moment, I'm spending very little on clicks on there since it seems searches are down since Mid December. I suspect searches for Wedding DJs should ramp up after the NFL playoffs are over as they normally do.

Oh I did have an inquiry from an older couple who saw my website, and liked my profile. She mentioned it's her 2nd time getting married. Wedding 11 am to 4 pm. on a Saturday. They were looking to stay under $1,200 which was doable. They were having a afternoon wedding at a Country Club in Virginia...Go Figure their wedding is on a date I am already booked (April 22nd). That single Saturday is popular in April. All our DJs are booked on that date. Every other date in April I am open since my April 8th wedding delayed their wedding until October. ...It sucks when leads come in for dates we are already booked on.

I also just sent out an agreement for May 6th a few days ago...the Agency calls me asking if I'm available on May 6th...ARRGGGHH!

Personally, I don't see where that's a problem. I always tell clients that there are no verbal holds, period. First deposit wins. If I were you, I'd ask the agency for 24 hours, then call the first client and ask them if they're going to book, as you have someone else requesting that date. It has always gotten them off their duff and get the deposit in, pronto.

Yeah, why april 22?
It was my first date booked and I had 2 people wanting it as well.
