Frank -- who's yer biggest competition... ?

Well, that's pretty braod for me to answer.. as far as SEO goes, one guy whom his website actually ranked #1 in about 3 months and I have no Idea how... He emailed me and told me, I am about to launch a massive online marketing strategy.. next thing I know he's #1 for DJ in Houston and Houston DJ and Houston Wedding DJ.. I was like WOW.. How.. LOL he was up for about a year and now for some reason I'm back on top...

@Frank - What's all this for?

<meta name="Rating" content="General" />
<meta name="Robots" content="All" />
<meta name="abstract" content="Houston DJ Houston DJ Houston Wedding Houston DJ Quinceanera DJ Disc Jockey Wedding Corporate Party Reunion Anniversary Dance Sound Music" />

LOL I copied my meta tags from the #1 website at the time and have never changed them since.. LOL...

@Frank - Why the ads at the footer of your site????

Check this out www.hiphooray.com

Not quite prime time yet but dominating the serps around here ;)

I saw that site earlier... PR3 already... :):) I like the concept....

The ads, mm. and extra 50 bux a month of income... Text Link Ads...

Many many years ago when I lived in Downtown San Francisco when Lycos, Alta Vista, Yahoo (then a directory) were the rulers Google suddenly appeared along with Trust Rank which was a calculation of the trust Google had in your site.

This model didn't last long due to the onslaught of law suits "Whaddya Mean I'm Untrustworthy" and so on

Google pre IPO changed the name to Page Rank after Larry Page.

I know I was a spammer before that...

Really it's all a load of bollocks - my advice put your money where your mouth is and buy.... - oh hang on that's for my pals to know ;)...........

PR matters... Google is the main reason we are talking about PR... they invented it (Controversial) ...

LOL... Um... it's on their tool bar... At one time, about a year or two ago.. PR was at the top of all SEO's mouth... how can we increase our pr... pr this pr that pr everything... Everyone was obsessed with PR... So I'm sure that's where this statement comes from..

Ok as I click on your link, it says it on there..

"More details on why not to obsess over PageRank here:
http://sites.google.com/site/webmasterhelpforum/en/faq--crawling--indexing---ranking#pagerank"

People were obssesed...overly obsessed with PR not to long ago.. People were selling links on sites for a lot of money in hopes that their PR would go up... it was really not good for the integrity of the system or the web.. so that is why...

If you read carefully, PR was removed from Googles Webmasters tools... not entirely from their system...

So I'm glad u took the time to research but I'm not sure why you would post misleading information...

Is a big factor on the web so google can't really just say.. oh, ok, it's gone today... bye pr.. LOL...

BTW Rick.. your site has a PR0... I think at one point you had a PR4.. EDIT... no it's a PR2.... but google has not finished updating its PR.. takes time..

Bollocks to $50 when you're running a business - you WANT the people to stay on your site so give them a reason ....

Rick does that by being so useful and coming across as a real friendly guy that knows what he's doing...

I stopped doing that in 1999 - it was initially started as a way to get easy listings on DMOZ which is ****e - so now a waste of time

I have family in Scotland, France and the UK (my Sis in Laws side). Just haven't had the time -- busy as heck...

I'll get to hear my favorite Mobile Disco DJ in Plymouth one of these days -- trust me :)

It's what I do that is the most amusing ;)

Welcome anytime - thanks for the excuse on the French part LOL

Like PPC before it and social media after it, SEO can be a hard function to place. Ideally it crosses lines between marketing and development effortlessly and it doesn't really matter who owns it, but between tight brains and "aha" moments we all know that "ideal" is deceptively simple.

Most of the best fly by night websites have a good page rank ;)

I know so many SEO types that have other businesses make a boatload then close shop....

It's called working hard then turning a quick profit - I've done it a few times.

Last month I made a couple thousand $s with a well known California name ;) that cost me $8 - I can't really say anymore than that (cough splutter)

Dxxx

No, you are missing the point... it's not for the end user to do their reserach, it's for the webmaster...

NEVER, to answer your question, UNLESS you are informed about it or you yourself are a webmaster...

LOL and to answer you question even further... EVERY TIME I shop online I take a look at the pages's PR to make sure it's not a Fly by night website... It's embeded on my Google Toolbar so all I have to do is look at the PR section...

Can't believe I said something that made sense here ;) - I have one of them there rewired screwed up minds.....

AND I'm pretty cheeky, lewd and innocent looking so get away with loads of naughty boy "mouthy" stuff

My Missus says I have no filter between my brain and mouth thus what I think comes out my mouth - I have a really wicked taste in jokes as you may have noticed...

An opinion is an opinion... I just took down my Google ads which also resulted in an extra $50 bux a month... That was on my blog section of my site..

I do want people to stay on my site... and they do... They even fill my little form down there which allows me to get their business.. and I do.. I have to turn down some for dates which I am already booked... Dec 31st I turned down 5 events, 2 of which would have paid my new year's fee... March 20th, and 27th I've turned down 10 events combined... I am just putting some facts which contradict your opinions... :) on putting ads on a site..

Like I said it's an opinion and an assumption that you are more than welcomed to share... It's a wrong assumption to say that people do not stay on your site for running ads on your site... LOL that's pretty stupid, that's my opinion on that...

Let me put it to you this way... Montly Hosting = approx 10 dollars a month... yearly Website renewals.. = 320 a year.. 320 + 120 = 440... all automatically drafted from my paypal account.. Text Link Ads = $600 a year... all automatically deposited to the same paypal account... All that paypal account does is receive money from advertising and automatically draft payments for hosting and domain names... Who does not like being paid to have a site and being paid to host a website...

Besides...

What part of running a business says.. You cannot make money from advertising on your stie??? That's one thing I've never understood... I am comfortable with my ads on my site... the ONLY people who look down at them are the people who are not even my customers... EG other DJ's, other wedding vendros, etc... Does not bother me at all nor does it affect my bottom line.. :)

would you tell ODJT.. yer running a forum... bullocks with thos ads??? I don't care why they advertise, i get value out of this site and if they want to advertise, so be it, to each his own...

I agree Rick is a stand up guy who comes off as useful and knows what he's doing, I've never contended that... and I've even asked him for help on a software related thread on here...

The PR comment about buying from a PR4 over a PR0 was not directed towards rick if that's what you took it as, and I can understand why you would take it like that so I do want to clear that up...

I was thinking more along the lines of, I recently bought a Nikon DSLR online and I researched and researched and 2 sites had the camera for approximately the same price.. one was a PR4 site, the other a PR0 site... so now you know which one I bought from...

I think you are talking about your site... I liked the design.. I didn't read up on it... but the design is good... a really nice theme..

LOL if they are fly by night, and I understand PR... then they would not have a good PR... very contradicting point, MOST DON'T have a high PR.... LOL...

But I know what you mean... But the scam sites are easy to spot...

Can't believe I said something that made sense here ;) - I have one of them there rewired screwed up minds.....

I'm still trying to make sense of it... LOL

LOL and LOL - I make money doing some build it up and sell it fly by night stuff - build a community get a following, sell it

Most of the guys here can name a DJ portal I started built up a community made some dosh then sold it.

I would call it fly by night because I didn't care about it, wanted to get rid of it and made some easy dosh out of it ;)

LOL LOL after everything

Just noticed 3 pages for 2 of my websites are popping up for the same competitive keyword.

muahahahaha!

LOL... It's also good to have your DJ site show up for your Photo Booth keywords... I've found that out....

;) Or even your Monogram Designing and Gobo Designing Capabilities..

I get calls for people who want to get their monogram designed, or even just to rent out one of my Monogram Lights... Easy $300 bux... :)
