This is a spinoff of my thread concerning re-designing my site. I have been asking a couple of members for their assistance in reviewing my re-design. And one of the discussions came up concerning the pictures on the landing page.. which do you feel helps you sell.... group pictures of people dancing and enjoying themselves or bride close-ups.. see the poll.

I don't need pics to seal the deal, especially of strangers dancing. In my presentation I discuss what I can do that is different and may show the tools that I use. The word pictures I paint are enough for the prospects to imagine.

"Other".........my view, it takes both types. Group pics, especially if they show uplighting and higher-end venues, helps to build reputation as a vendor who does high-end events and, in turn, suggests that this is the "real pro" the Bride needs for her events. However, I personally give more weight to the close-up shots of brides who are having the time of their lives...........ESPECIALLY if the Bride in the pic is gorgeous. To me, these are the shots that will trigger an emotional response from the viewer and spur them into action to do an inquiry. It's much like the mediocre-looking guy that keeps getting hit on by gorgeous women, all because he's already dating a gorgeous woman. I believe that women think they're going to be that beautiful Bride in the pic, simply because they hire the DJ who has beautiful brides whom he/she has worked for in the past.

I'm leaning toward a bride and groom dancing surrounded by other dancers. The bride is looking at the camera and the dancers are looking at the bride. I've always put a phot of dancers having fun at the top of page one and it doesn't seem to be working. Of course my photos are low quality too so that doesn't help.

I don't depend on pics, as most of my gigs don't come thru my website.
But I agree with Jas and Rick...pictures of a bride (and/or groom) allows the viewer to picture themselves having that much fun.
And if the bride is good looking, it not only makes your picture more appealing,
it makes the potential client feel that she can be THAT beautiful on HER wedding day!
