Yes I still have a Zune 120gb player...

Having said that, If there are any Zune users here, please see if you can answer this one question.

When I delete a track from it's folder, the Zune software automatically deletes it from the software's collection.

But the track remains on the device. The only way to delete then is go one by one in the Zune's collection while it's hooked up to the software.

Any idea why the tracks are not automatically deleted from the device once the software deletes it from the collection?

Sounds like it's not syncing. Is the Zune connected when you delete the track? If not, does it do this same thing when it's connected?

Hmmm....the Zune was NOT connected at the time the tracks were deleted.

But it did delete about 25 tracks out of like 300...and it's been hooked up when the software is open a number of times since.

Yup, just do a manual sync. The Zune was superior to the iPod.

I know there are three sync mode options. If I change it to manual, what will that do?

Manual mode sounds like I'd have to delete the tracks from the device one by one.

I will probably change it back to the "what I choose" mode once this issue is resolved.

Nah, just do a manual sync by connecting it with a cable and make sure it is syncing. If it connects, it should sync, just check at the bottom of the screen where it shows sync progress. If you'd like to get rid of the Zune, let me know, my teenager wants a large memory music player and is familiar with the Zune since we have the smaller 8GB one.

Thanks for the advice Steve, but they're gonna have to pry my Zune 120 and I Pod Classic out of my cold dead hands...:)

I will try a manual sync, but how does a manual sync force the device to delete tracks off of it that the software's collection already does not have?

It will reSync with whatever the software collection has (I imagine a library file / index of sorts). It may not actually delete it, but the pointer will be gone.
