Assuming you have one, what do you pay your "stand by" person?

We rotate weekends off and I always know if the DJ that is off is going out of town or has something important planned, however if they get "the call" they get an extra stipend of $100 on top of their dj pay

But do they get paid if they don't get the call? I mean, they still need to be available at a moment's notice.

Our ON CALL DJ is paid $50.00 for the night, whether he has to take a call or not. If he has to run equipment out or just help talk some one through over the phone that’s all part of the $50.00. If he has to take over at an event, or do the event, he is paid for what % of the event he does in addition to the $50.00

Our operations assistant or operations manager is paid hourly all night as well whether they have to do anything or not. I have to have an ops manager every night. They check in with all the clients as well. There isnt a night that goes by they dont need to do something or another.
