Im Lost.... Can someone Suggest a decent Wireless Mic system or less....the cheaper the better- not sacrificing for quality of course (if possible) !!

Its just for talking, no signing...Range is a factor since im getting it for a Wedding gig (my first, yikesss)

i was looking at this system- what do you guys think:

http://www.guitarcenter.com/Audio-T...F-Handheld-Wireless-System-275116-i1371908.gc

does anyone know what the Option/Style choice means, regarding t2, t8, t3?

also- whats this i hear about frequency laws?

As long as it's not used for singing, I would recommend a Pyle Pro 8 channel UHF mic. Plenty of range, very clear, and multi-channel to deal with possible interference in February. About $70.oo

^thx...but im having trouble finding it...could you perhaps post a link to an online store that might carry it?

im in a bit of a squeeze for time, i was hoping for a model that might be available at or through guitar center, but if i can find that pyle pro ill take it haha

yikess...

at the moment, the most i could stretch my budget to would be $200...anything in this range worth getting?

the thing is- light rental, tux rental, and buying a soundcard are all eating into my expected profit from this gig, not to mention im a bit in debt after getting my speakers- mackie srm 450s- hence this financial limit lol

A Gemini wireless system is inexpensive and works well when you're starting out. A note of advice: Have a wired mic as backup.

If you're looking at Guitar Center, maybe you should just stop by the store and see what they have. If you have any questions as to whether you're looking at a good deal or not, just post back and ask us.

Gotta agree with the Duck yet again. No matter what wireless mic you end up getting, buy a wired one as a backup. Because you never know what may happen.

I understand your financial situation and time crunch. I would say to buy what you can afford for this event BUT put a couple of good wireless microphones on next years wish list. Cheap microphones are cheap for a reason. You will get more drop-outs and less range with a cheapie than with a good system. I have three EV RE2 handhelds and 2 Shure SLX lav microphones.

The AT microphone you referenced is a fixed channel (one frequency) microphone, which means you cannot change channels if something is causing problems or interference on your mic frequency while at an event. According to the spec sheet T2, T3, T8 etc are the frequencies of each microphone. If you were going to buy 2-3 of these, you would get one mic with freq T2, one mic with freq T3, and so on. It would be much better to find something with switchable channels if it is available.

BTW- keep in mind the FCC frequency changes next Feb. Any microphone that transmits between 698-808 MHz will be illegal for use in the USA (the AT you are looking at is OK with the freq.)

Keep us informed

I apologize as my first comment was sent with a bit of sarcasm please contact Ben at Northernlight FX. they can help you the best there.

I just picked up one of the EV RE2 mics from Jenny at NorthernLightFX...I'm on the 90 days same as cash plan...plus I got my mic in 4 days. This could be a good option for you.

By the way...thanks to Jon and some of the other folk who recommended this mic. :sqwink:

Fastest way is to go to e-bay, search "Pyle Wireless mic" or "Pyle UHF mic" and do a "Buy Now"

I couldn't advise you to buy anything less than $400

A Sennheiser G2, EV makes a nice Mic or a Shure PGX.

At weddings failure is not an option.

I didn't get the part about a wedding, but for announcing only, the Pyle is durable, clear, plenty of range, AND multi-channel- which will be a neccesity come Feb. I have a couple around for drunken screamers, and after about 3.5 years still good as new. They won't fail.

Just a reminder- NOT for singing ( as opposed to drunken backup yowling in a bar)....:sqwink:

DJ Bob has it right. Buy what you can now, but plan on an upgrade.

I agree with Cam.

Any mic system under $400 is likely to fail -OR- lose all of its frequencies in 12-24 months.

The Sennheiser EW-122 (lapel) and EW-135 (handheld) were the best investment in wedding ceremonies that I ever made!

Its called "pay now or pay later"

dj_akhan -

A couple options... one is the Audio Technica ATW-702. Not my first choice, but we can get it close to your budget and it's a frequency agile UHF.

Personal pick would be the EV RE2, but you won't go wrong with Sennheiser G2, Shure SLX, or an AT3000 series.

We can do 90 days no payments, no interest on any of those (or any purchase over $299) if you have other needs and the total comes to over $499 we can extend it to 6 months for you. Hope that helps. :)
