So I just got off the phone with a keyboard player who I might do some gigs with. He has the Sxa100 and I have the Sb122 sub. Does the Sxa100 have enough juice to power my sub? If so, do we need to use a crossover?
Thanks y'all

I'm confused......what is the SXA 100 (I thought it was a 2-way self-powered compact speaker)?

How a 2-way active speaker would have enough "Juice" to power more than its own components, is baffling to me.

FYI, its helpful to give a bit more product description (what type of unit, the amps if any, and the diameter of the drivers), then I could be of more assistance.

Sorry - the SXA100 does not have the ability to power an additional speaker such as the SB122.

However, if you had the powered version of the SB122 (the SB2A) you would be able to power a passive SX100. The SB2A has a 2 channel amplifier in it (one channel drives the sub itself and the other can be used to drive an additional loudspeaker - preferably a ZX-1 or SX-100).

I know...I am confused too....Hope this helps anyways...

DJMC, this was a question directed at people familiar with the type of equipment that I was asking about.

If you're not, then why did you get involved?

Why not just watch the thread and wait for someone to come along who does know something about what is being discussed?

My question (which was quite clear) was, does the Sxa100 amp have enough power to run a PASSIVE Sb122 sub the way the powered sub can run another speaker?

The sub requires more power than a Zx1(which I have) or a Sx100(passive, which I also have).

If the Sxa100 can power the Sb122 then I don't need to bring a separate amp to power the sub. This is what I wanted to know . . .

What I was perturbed about is when you ask a question of this nature, you expect someone who is directly familiar with what you're asking about to offer input or insight based on their knowledge of the product. He is only vaguely familiar, certainly no EV speaker expert or even a user of those models.

I started the thread thinking that the Sxa100 could power another speaker like the SB2a can do, I don't know why I thought that. I wasn't looking for someone to ask more questions about what amps I'm using and what size woofer the speaker has etc. Granted, it was my mistake and to be fair, yes, I could have just gone and looked it up without posting a new thread here about it and in retrospect I probably should have.

To be completely blunt and honest, I reacted the way I did because he's so darned annoying all the time and such a gosh darned smug, know-it-all . . .
