Well Jam my brudda,

Welcome to the club.

Most here have been rejected from other boards on the net. The moderators here use a softer touch (I call it moderating in MODERATION) and it results in a lot fewer problems on the board.

As for your other issue, I see that as a two way street. Those in the ADJA have certainly been no angels all the time. For some who have been on the board of ADJA they have used the position to forward agendas that had no business being pushed from a power position in that association. You know it, I know it, and everyone else knows it. So the blame can be laid at the door of both sides.

I have been so totally turned off by associations in general that I will never let my shadow cross the threshold of any of them. Yes I have been a past member of two different DJ associations.

My morning rant

I can network with other DJs right here internationally or I can do it on a local level. I know every decent DJ in town some of them I even consider friends

I can buy Insurance anywhere...Hell theres got to be 30 or 40 good agents right here locally and the agent wont call me a bottom feeder after they take my money

I dont need someone who most likley cant point my market out on a map telling me how to run my business or that I dont charge enough

Why anyone would need an association is beyond me

And I certinaly dont need to stick someones symbol on my website to sell bookings I do that on my own

All in all Jam you are in a better place here anyway this is where the pros hang out nowadays

You paraphrased that Vinyl...I will be putting the reveloution symbol there when I update:sqwink:

1st I would not hold the present board members accountable for the actions of past - Long gone are the days of the "Gold" ring, self appointed life memberships and driving around town at trade shows via limousines. I still think that being banned by such trash is an absolute joke.. I could write captions in the sand like:

- Not Allowed To Have A Business In The Town He Lives -
- Is a drug head with a serious habit -
- Stole copy written material -
- Trailer Trash -
- Ripped Off employees -
- Illegal distribution of copy written material -
- A Cheat -
- Fraud -

And wait to see who the shoe fits ---- But then I wonder, "Do I really Want To Network With Such Individuals?" I have no problem with individuals who are honest about personal shortcomings - But casting a shadow over others and ignoring some is a sham and I hope the politics end very soon.

The national associations are great voices for our industry - Regardless of not focusing outside our local markets the trikkledown effects many of us and increases the quality of networking.

Nice replies and in some cases we can agree to disagree and remain friends.

Jam,

Are the days of the WORTH agenda gone as well?

Or is that what you are refering to as the "GOLD ring group?

I am sorry and I can agree to disagree with you on this one, and still remain friends But the agenda driven associations (and they all are) have pretty much turned my stomach and along with it me from ever looking at an association as anything but someones vehicle to control others.

going back to the original "badge of honor", I would hope this great forum never gets to a point that someone gets banned without numerous warnings and when then when they do, to let others know why the decision to ban someone for life was made, so others can learn not to make the same mistake.
It seems at other sites, lifetime bans are thrown around like a dish rag. I have not been banned yet from a forum, but many, too many people i respect have been while others that have their own agenda and are outright rude to people do not. I did get reminded by someone who was extremely rude to me that he has the POWER to ban me...after i told him ..albiet numerous times ...how rude and unprofessional i thought his post was.

Mr. Hanna, I cannot tell you about the clandestine operations of the mod crew here, because then you'd have to be banned forever :p, but I can tell you that your wishes are being fulfilled.

Besides, I'm just a goon who does what he's told.

No the Gold rings were prior Peace.

I'm not a member of the worth movement as many call it but I'm a believer in the value of professionaism and experience as you and I share. I would not look down on an entire group due to one, two or three individuals.

I will say that the worth program has done more good than Sid and/or Dan will ever do... That's just my opinion and who am I.

I hope to see the Good Old Boys in Las Vegas and I'll have a few personal words for them - I bet with all the crap they have been spreading like roaches that scatter when the ligts are turned on they will find EXCUSES not to attend this year - If they are in house I look forward to a little one-on-one time.

Someone once put me in that "good ol' boys" group, but I think their emphasis was on the "ol'". Oh well!

Tom,

I only share straws with friends..... lolololololol roflmao

"Just the good ol' boys,
Never meanin' no harm,
Beats all you've never saw, been in trouble with the law
since the day they was born.

Straight'nin' the curve,
Flat'nin' the hills.
Someday the moutain might get 'em,
but the law never will.

Makin' their way, The only way they know how,
That's just a little bit more than the law will allow.

Just the good ol' boys,
Wouldn't change if they could,
Fightin' the system like a two modern day Robin Hood".

 :sqlaugh:  :sqlaugh: :sqcool:

If it's any help...

ODJT is open to all in the industry. This is more than just a DJ chat board. Much more. ODJT is an open forum where all thoughts and opinions are welcome. We'd be no different otherwise.

As everyone knows, ODJT has no agendas nor politics. We don't ban members ~ we welcome them. You'd really have to go out of your way to get removed from this site. :D

As far as past sins of past association directors go, that's on them. They're the ones who will have to live with it. As an association director myself I would like to say that managing an industry tradegroup is never gonna be 100% perfect.

When your prez lives in one state, your treasurer lives in another and your membership person is in yet another, you won't have regular face to face board meetings.

I agree that there have been many less-than-favorable things done in the past. But to be honest, most people in this industry don't care.

Hope this helps. :)

Steve, we are once again in agreement. I'm done with 'em
