Definately invest in real estate. Real estate never goes away.
There's an old saying, the best thing to do with money is use it to make more money. Real estate is a good way to do that. And it's definately a buyer's market right now.
Start up a corp or LLC, buy up a boatload of foreclosed properties at sheriff's sales. Fix 'em up and rent 'em out. Then watch that ol' money roll in.

I'd have to agree with Fred.
Right now people who have CASH are in a buying frenzy, scooping up all the good deals!
Like $300,000 condos in Stockton CA-- going for $100,000 in Short Sales.

If i were independantly wealthy I'd start my own club, hire the best people I could find to run it EXCEPT for the karaoke host. That would be me..
And I'd buy a boatload of kickass equipment, go back to school to learn more sound engineering and maybe do the occasional wedding for free.

Build a nice new big building on our property, with a few bars, restaurants and shops, and a huge penthouse 10 floors up for me, overlooking the river (with a pool on the roof of course)
Then I'd buy the 100 or so acres behind me -- and let it grow in, so the animals and I have more room to play.

I definitely wouldn't do anything that would require me to do anything --- like purchase a bunch of real estate that I'd have to babysit. Independantly wealthy means I wouldn't depend on anyone or anything --- I'd just live life to the fullest and enjoy all the time I have left on this cruel world. That could mean as big as taking a long vacation or as simple as helping the family next door that can't afford to pay their electrical bill.

I would also be in Ormond Beach, Florida, with a second house in Miami, and a third in North Conway, NH., A fourth at the NJ shore ( Actually, I have a second house there..
) A condo would suffice in Las Vegas.I would DEFINITELY hire a professionally trained driver ( I actually HATE to drive these days. The increased density from when I was growing up has taken all the fun out of it).

Actually, I don't like repping people anyway -- it skews the whole aspect of the thanks button, IMHO. If I rep somebody, it's the equivalent of thanking 282 posts -- doesn't seem fair...

I would leave my day job, still DJ some, but would not worry about turning a pile of money into a bigger pile of money.

Besides my first post, I would invest in radio stations. The radio was my first love, long before the Mobile business. I miss the radio but not the bs.
When I did radio, it was not the corporate crap that it is now. I worked for the mom and pop stations. You can actually have fun! Have a personality!
I would bring a format here that people would say *I shoulda thought of that!*....Only if I had about $2-3 MILL....
