How mobile are you really?

1. When your customers call, are they reaching you on your cell phone? Or are they reaching your answering machine?

2. Do you use a cell phone, laptop, or iTouch to access client info on the go? Could you, for instance, get a call in your car, and be able to tell a potential client whether or not you are booked?

3. Do you carry music on your cell phone "just in case"? Could you actually do a party from your phone in a dire emergency?

4. Do you carry enough gear in your primary vehicle to do a party at the drop of a hat?

5. Do you have a contract that could be emailed from your cell?

How mobile are you really?

1. When your customers call, are they reaching you on your cell phone? Or are they reaching your answering machine?

They reach the cell. We don't even have a landline.

2. Do you use a cell phone, laptop, or iTouch to access client info on the go? Could you, for instance, get a call in your car, and be able to tell a potential client whether or not you are booked?

No, my cell phone is for dialing out, receiving calls, and voicemail. Depending upon the popularity or closeness of the date, I could likely tell them whether we are booked.

3. Do you carry music on your cell phone "just in case"? Could you actually do a party from your phone in a dire emergency?

No and no.

4. Do you carry enough gear in your primary vehicle to do a party at the drop of a hat?

I like my gear and would rather not leave it to bake in the sun or get stolen.

5. Do you have a contract that could be emailed from your cell?

No, all of our contracts are done in paper.

How "mobile" are you, really?
We bring the party to people; they don't have to come to us to party. That's how we are mobile. As for being plugged in, we like to be social too much to do all that.

My answers are above in purple.:)

How mobile are you really?

1. When your customers call, are they reaching you on your cell phone? Or are they reaching your answering machine?

Usually cell phone...rarely land line

2. Do you use a cell phone, laptop, or iTouch to access client info on the go? Could you, for instance, get a call in your car, and be able to tell a potential client whether or not you are booked?

I have a great mind, and I know off hand who is available for what date, and when.

3. Do you carry music on your cell phone "just in case"? Could you actually do a party from your phone in a dire emergency?

Heck no..I would never even try to do so.

4. Do you carry enough gear in your primary vehicle to do a party at the drop of a hat?

No..but it is just as easy to hook on one of my three trailers and get going asap.

5. Do you have a contract that could be emailed from your cell?

Nope...do not use inet on the phone

How "mobile" are you, really?
If someone calls..I am available to hook on the trailer and leave within 5 minutes...that is if I am dressed..lol. So pretty mobile I would say.

I have satellites at my disposal. :sqcool:

Have your people, contact my people -- and do lunch or something. I'm busy playing frisbee with Wonder Dog...

I'm such an arrogant bastard... :) Have no idea why, but it's fun :D

How mobile are you really?

1. When your customers call, are they reaching you on your cell phone? Or are they reaching your answering machine?

I use my cell for all DJ business calls.

2. Do you use a cell phone, laptop, or iTouch to access client info on the go? Could you, for instance, get a call in your car, and be able to tell a potential client whether or not you are booked?

I could and have.

3. Do you carry music on your cell phone "just in case"? Could you actually do a party from your phone in a dire emergency?

I do, and probably could in a dire emergency.

4. Do you carry enough gear in your primary vehicle to do a party at the drop of a hat?

Not normally, but there are times when I'm lazy that I COULD do a bubble party.

5. Do you have a contract that could be emailed from your cell?

Yes I do.

How "mobile" are you, really?

And there you have it.

How mobile are you really?

1. When your customers call, are they reaching you on your cell phone? Or are they reaching your answering machine?

They reach the office which may or may not be answered 90% of the time it is answered!

However my cell number is also available to clients (who are already booked)

2. Do you use a cell phone, laptop, or iTouch to access client info on the go? Could you, for instance, get a call in your car, and be able to tell a potential client whether or not you are booked?

Yes I am a walking computer and can tell a client if I have an available DJ in a moments notice!

3. Do you carry music on your cell phone "just in case"? Could you actually do a party from your phone in a dire emergency?

No why would I want to DJ a gig off of a cell phone?

4. Do you carry enough gear in your primary vehicle to do a party at the drop of a hat?

Yes, Yes, Yes and yes, the only vehicles I have that do not carry complete systems ready to roll are the Caddy, the Escalade and the Bike. Any of the vehicles I would normally drive on any given day are fully loaded and ready to go! That would be the Savana, the Express, The Passport and the Element

5. Do you have a contract that could be emailed from your cell?

No but I have a contract that can be e-mailed from my business laptop, which is always with me! (It also functions as a backup show computer for just in case)

How "mobile" are you, really?

I am mobile!

I am mobile!

Like I said... DJ off a phone in a DIRE EMERGENCY. Nobody wants to, but COULD you?

Papa,

My clients are not paying for that level of "high-end concierge" service. Neither would I expect that level of service from any other professional in any field unless I was paying an astronomical amount of money.

While I understand the technology angle of your question, I see it more as a quality of life and balance issue.

I also see it as a demand issue. What I mean is if you have to be so accessible, flexible, and available because you are in NEED of clients versus your services are in DEMAND by clients and can work on your time.

With that said, same day service (returning calls, emailing contracts) is the SPEED I prefer to run my business versus same MINUTE.

How mobile are you really?

1. When your customers call, are they reaching you on your cell phone? Or are they reaching your answering machine?

Cell phone, so unless I'm busy with another client they get me right away.

2. Do you use a cell phone, laptop, or iTouch to access client info on the go? Could you, for instance, get a call in your car, and be able to tell a potential client whether or not you are booked?

I can but, it is very difficult to work with through my phone. So I just keep my calander up to date.

3. Do you carry music on your cell phone "just in case"? Could you actually do a party from your phone in a dire emergency?

Nope....

4. Do you carry enough gear in your primary vehicle to do a party at the drop of a hat?

I have the gear with me now... just would have to run and get my computer and hard drive.... those two sit at home.... when peak season is over so does the gear.

5. Do you have a contract that could be emailed from your cell?

No need.... I can point them to my website and they can get an instant quote that gives them access to the client area and the contract online....

How mobile are you really?

1. When your customers call, are they reaching you on your cell phone? Or are they reaching your answering machine?

My old landline # was ported over to a cell phone many years ago. They get me directly. Now, depending on what I'm doing, I may or may not answer it.

2. Do you use a cell phone, laptop, or iTouch to access client info on the go? Could you, for instance, get a call in your car, and be able to tell a potential client whether or not you are booked?

I could use my phone to access my online calendar, but I've never had to do that.

3. Do you carry music on your cell phone "just in case"? Could you actually do a party from your phone in a dire emergency?

Not on my phone, but I do have two ipod's that would work in a pinch.

4. Do you carry enough gear in your primary vehicle to do a party at the drop of a hat?

No. That's just crazy to carry that stuff around all of the time. Now, if I had my old jeep, we could party because it had one HELL of a sound system in it!

5. Do you have a contract that could be emailed from your cell?

No. Don't have a need for that. In fact, alot of my contracts are customized per client depending on their needs and it would be cumbersome to try and do that via cellphone.

How mobile are you really?

1. When your customers call, are they reaching you on your cell phone? Or are they reaching your answering machine? Calls from my office phone are routed to my cell phone when I am not there.

2. Do you use a cell phone, laptop, or iTouch to access client info on the go? Could you, for instance, get a call in your car, and be able to tell a potential client whether or not you are booked?Yes, my calender is available right on my cell

3. Do you carry music on your cell phone "just in case"? Could you actually do a party from your phone in a dire emergency? Cell phone no, but I have a 30 gig ipod in the car. I could do a cocktail party. plenty of playlists. But to do a dance party with one ipod, or even 2...no. Could I? Yes. Would I? No.

4. Do you carry enough gear in your primary vehicle to do a party at the drop of a hat? Yes, typically. Laptop, Mic, L1compact. Everything takes up one back seat.

5. Do you have a contract that could be emailed from your cell? Yes, i can send the agreement right from my cell, the customer can electronically sign it, then I sign it right from my cell, and we both automatically get emailed signed copies of the agreement.

How "mobile" are you, really?

Chuck, you didn't mention being able to accept payments via cell phone to being "mobile". I think that is an important part. Sending the agreement right away is great, but then it loses it's luster if you have to wait a week to get a check in the mail.

So I can, and have, had people call me when I am at the pool, got a quote, agreed, got the agreement from me, paid the down payment over the phone, signed the agreement, sent it back to me, I signed it, sent them a copy and then sent them the link to all the planners. All from a lounge chair by the pool with a beer and without even a laptop.

I love technology.

No. Don't have a need for that. In fact, alot of my contracts are customized per client depending on their needs and it would be cumbersome to try and do that via cellphone.

I used to do that. With the online service I use, I can now choose from a virtually unlimited amount of packages and add ons that covers every possibility of what we offer, making it customized for their needs. Easily chosen from drop down menus and the agreement is done and ready to go in seconds.

In the rare, rare case of offering something completly different than we have before, I can easily add a package or an add on to the menus.

4. Do you carry enough gear in your primary vehicle to do a party at the drop of a hat?

Yes: the roadies do all my setups for me (I just carry the music)

5. Do you have a contract that could be emailed from your cell?

No - I do that at interview or when I get home

How "mobile" are you, really?

not bad

have a nice day

OK, for those who thought this was dumb... it was basically the premise for a WHOLE 2 PAGE ARTICLE in one of the latest NAME magazines.

I just turned it into questions.

Like I said... DJ off a phone in a DIRE EMERGENCY. Nobody wants to, but COULD you?

And as I pointed out, I would have no reason too since I carry fully loaded systems in my vehilces and my business laptop which is also a backup system for DJing! Load up two apps of winamp initiate the cross fader plug in and I can DJ away! I carry all the basic party tunes on the internal on that lappy!

How mobile are you really?

1. When your customers call, are they reaching you on your cell phone? Or are they reaching your answering machine?
They reach my cell, my kids know not to answer my cell.

2. Do you use a cell phone, laptop, or iTouch to access client info on the go? Could you, for instance, get a call in your car, and be able to tell a potential client whether or not you are booked?
My Blackberry takes care of everything.

3. Do you carry music on your cell phone "just in case"? Could you actually do a party from your phone in a dire emergency?
I have about 200 wedding staples on my blackberry categorized for ceremony and reception. Plus I usually have an iPod with me.

4. Do you carry enough gear in your primary vehicle to do a party at the drop of a hat?
My car is empty but my van is loaded and ready to go 90% of the time.

5. Do you have a contract that could be emailed from your cell?
I have all important business forms on my Blackberry.

How "mobile" are you, really?
Mobile enough.:sqwink:

How mobile are you really?

1. When your customers call, are they reaching you on your cell phone? Or are they reaching your answering machine?

Only have a cell phone

2. Do you use a cell phone, laptop, or iTouch to access client info on the go? Could you, for instance, get a call in your car, and be able to tell a potential client whether or not you are booked?

My calender is on my Blackberry

3. Do you carry music on your cell phone "just in case"? Could you actually do a party from your phone in a dire emergency?

I have very ittle dance music on my phone, mostly classical and jazz, but would never even try to do a party from it. Although I have hooked to a clients phone to play a request I didn't have.

4. Do you carry enough gear in your primary vehicle to do a party at the drop of a hat?

Hauling gear around every day doesn't make sense. To likely to get damaged or stolen, but most of the time my van is parked in my garage with the basics packed and ready to roll.

5. Do you have a contract that could be emailed from your cell?

I have a blank contract on my website, that they could download, but it really there for me to download. I really don't see the need for an emergency contract.
