interesting article...I do have to agree with one of the comments left on the article, it doesn't seem like disco is regaining much if any popularity stateside.

I hope it makes a big comeback. It's certainly much more fun and better than most of the hip hop rap $h@T out today. Then again most of the rappers use the disco hits to back their fast talking they call music.

Just my opinion.

Here is the key folks I'm 48 that was my decade. Most people my age have kids from 20 to 30 years old getting married. That number is perfect for the current parent of our brides and grooms. We play disco over here all the time and I can tell you if it was popular it usually packs the floor. Even a lot of our brides know the music. It's just the grooms that get confused. Play some KC that''s the way I like it and see what happens. Or play that funky music and that will usually get the going to.

I surely second you on that Ron. I was just listening to some disco classics one evening when I was preparing a playlist for an evening..I was so enthralled by it...reminded me so much of my school days and the good ol' times and more over the music seemed so 'complete'!!! And is sure to make anyone get up n shake a leg.

Tracks like 'Stayin Alive - Bee Gees, Voulez Vouz - ABBA , YMCA, and tons and tons of em' are sure to sound more refreshing and stimulating as compared to the gangsta kinda rap n hiphop which has most of the time a same kinda 'talkin' formula to it (Hiphop lovers no offense pls - Just my opinion)

I will predict confidently that in one or two yrs it will be big again here as trends tend to come from Europe in many cases. Why wouldnt this one?

And the fact is Disco never truly died here either, while not mainstreamed on the radio many clubs still have disco sets played that hit with the crowds! Granted they are not disco nights where the entire night is all disco but that is not to say it wouldn't work!

Well, my Retrospins venture did do a disco night... but it was only about 75% disco.

At 45, I caught the tail end of disco in high school
but I do know it has never lost it's luster around here.
The parents dance to it cause it brings back memories
and the kids (early 20's) think it's kind of a novelty
and dance to it (and KNOW THE WORDS)
I can only hope that disco's "comeback"
is not Britney Spears era artists doing REMAKES!
:sqeek:
