The first will never change. They're to nervous and unless you have time to work with them ahead it will always be that way.

The second, well, I know this is going to start some sh!@ but I've all but eliminated that problem with the L1's. I can have people stand inches in front, no problem. Sorry, I had to as it was relevant to the last post.

I'm not a Bose user, a Bose lover or a Bose hater!
no need to apologize to me!

Ron,

Even that isn't about the Bose it is about proper gain structure, I too can stand with a mic inches in front of my speakers without feedback and everyone in the room can hear me clearly!

Put the Mic down at the bottom half of the L1 and see if you get any feedback!

I could do the same with my JBL's to a certain point but we're not talking about us using the mics. I'll try it but people don't hold the mic at the bottom half. For average use with most people 6" away from the L1 center, and no feedback. I don't know the technical reasons, all I know is since I've had my L1's I've all but eliminated feedback from people standing directly in front of the L1 while facing it or facing the mic directly at the speaker.

Uh Ron last time I checked I'm from Maine originally...which is part of New England and I was asked to speak at the conference. I even had an attendee say to me that he was happy to see that I dived right in to content and didn't do the rah rah stuff talking all about me, myself and I and trying to promote a marketing course. Nothing for sale from me on this presentation...just good old fashioned sales techniques and training.

I understand what you are saying about Randy's and see how it could be perceived that way. There are several different approaches to presenting a seminar. I can tell you one thing, after having presented now myself, I have a new found respect for those who present on a regular basis. It takes a LOT of hard work and effort to pull off a successful seminar.

OK, here we go.
Mitch, thanks for pumping yourself up for everyone. So this doesn't get to out of hand I don't believe I was referring to you, mentioned you, or questioned your presentation. Just clear that one of for everyone would ya. And why are you jumping into my sh!@ anyway? What does anything in this thread have to do with you, once upon a time in a land far far way, being from Maine? But I bet you did stayed in a Holiday in once, right? Is there some reason you feel the need to explain you actions? I'm just a bit confused.

Uh Ron last time I checked I'm from Maine originally
Were are you from now? How long have you been there? Is your business located in Maine? Is Maine your market? Simple questions, simple answers, no need to elaborate.

Ron,

I'm not "pumping myself up" in front of everyone. No, this thread isn't about me. It happens to be about learning from a good friend of mine who lives in Maine, Dave Winsor. The only reason I responded was because you complained about no one from New England being represented...I even spoke of Maine when I presented last Monday. I'm very proud of my New England heritage, as I'm sure you can understand being from that part of the country yourself.

Now, no my business isn't there. Yes, it's been a while since I lived there but do a demographics comparison and see. Escanaba (where I currently operate out of) is 14,000 people. The county that I primarily operate in is 38,000 people. The city of Bangor Maine that I would operate in if I was there is only 31,000 people...not that far off. I've lived here in the Upper Peninsula now for six years and have grown my business substantially in that time.

Not sure why you are getting all upset over this. The purpose of this thread is about learning from Dave Winsor on microphone technique. I would welcome the opportunity Dave. Thanks. :)

Boy, did you speak on how to spin something into what it isn't? That's the best BS I've heard in a long time.

Care to share where in this thread I stated this? And to specifically where were they not being represented?

I'm very proud of my New England heritage,
Are you f@#$ing kidding me? Is this a race thing? You're not a Native American are you? Do I have to start referring to you as a Maniac American? Someone get out the boots please. You use to be from here a long time ago. We don't know when or how long but you, in no way, represent New England nor have any idea how we operate. I don't even have a clear understanding how people operate in Maine and I have lived in MA my entire life.

Now, no my business isn't there. Yes, it's been a while since I lived there
How long has it been? How long did you live there? Numbers would help.

And Milford is approximately 30,000. You want to compare yourself to my area also? Oh wait a minute. You're from Escanaba Michigan. Michigan begins with the letter M. Maine also begins with the letter M. Now I see the comparison. What was I thinking.

So, I'll ask you one more time. Were you asked to speak anywhere in the past year because you were representing Maine or New England? Yes or no would be an appropriate response.

Not sure why you are getting all upset over this. The purpose of this thread is about learning from Dave Winsor on microphone technique.
Mitch, who's getting upset? Who's getting defensive? Why did you feel the need to respond to me in this thread? Because a week ago I offered my opinion of the stale old road show bit that Randy Bartlett has been passing off as education? Since I've agreed that what Dave Windsor has offered, the idea for a real educational program, my response to him has been positive. I told him point blank, if it's anything like the vaudeville act that I've seen once to many times then I personally wouldn't be interested. But Dave has assured us, and I have no reason not to believe him, this would be a truly educational program. And I welcome it. And best of all he wouldn't be selling a monthly newsletter that hasn't been produced in over two years. Or a DVD of the same old same old. And since it's coming from a New Englander who knows how most of New England (not Michigan) operates, I would look forward to it.

Remember Mitch you are the one who first singled me out in this post. I made no reference to you personally. As you have stated this post is about Dave and his educational program. Why don't you just stick to that topic and keep you personal comments at DJA where they belong.

Thanks.

ATTACK Ron ATTACK!

Why do you feel the need to attack me?

I commented on your thread and immediately I'm attacked. Why?

To answer your questions:

1. I think it's a little ridiculous that a DJ would be asked to speak about Maine or New England, don't you?

2. I lived there the first 19 years of my life.

I didn't realize flames happened here too.

You asked questions so I'll answer but I think you need to let this go.
1. Now, our style of doing things are quite different than say CA. Dave would have a much different outlook at presenting a topic such as his that would reflect on what our area expects. It would be definitely different than the "It's all about me so buy my newsletter" show that Randy produced. Of course that's just my opinion.

2. You are a Michigan DJ and we except that. Your 19 years in Maine have fond memories I'm sure, but Heritage? I never heard of living in a certain state as Heritage. That's usually reserved for ethnic living. Oh Mitch, now you're just embarrassing yourself. Why does it always need to be all about you. This isn't DJA. Now stop hijacking the thread and keep it on topic.

Diana and I have actually given Mike Skills classes at Toastmasters conferences.
I'll see if we still have our "cheat sheets" someplace.
Who's Mike Skills? Do I know him?:sqlaugh: Sorry Scott, I had to.:sqwink:

Gentlemen.
Please.
State your positions and then defend them.
Avoid personal attacks.
That's the way to keep threads open.
Bill,
I'll respond anytime I am challenged. It's in my blood. But Mitch had no business on this thread questioning something that had not a damn thing to do with what Dave was offering. I made no statement about Mitch nor anything specific in relation to him. As always Mitch has to make the threads all about himself. Besides there is nothing in this thread that needs to be discussed. Dave asked a question and I'm sure invites ideas related to that question.

I keep trying to get this thread back on track.
