I am not looking to start an argument here!!

I just got a submission in from a client who has this on the band worksheet:

IN HOUSE SOUND REQUIRED? Yes, but purchasing a Bose L1 soon

I am not familiar with the L1 so I am coming to those of you who are, is this a realistic purchase for a touring act?

They list their genre as "Acoustic, Singer/Songwriter".

I have seen a few acoustic acts using the Bose. Sounded just fine. In fact, I think that was what they were originally marketed for.

The Bose L1 would be ideal for this type of act.... and in fact we have a couple of bands in my area that actually use the L1 as their PA system.... however, with that said it would depend greatly on the size of the room and audience as to if a single L1 would be more practical as a monitor system vs. mains...

I did an entire wedding season on a single L1 with 2 bass bins and did just fine with audiences up to 200. But, these were not screaming fans or a club where the noise levels were high to begin with.

The L1 does provide all the inputs a single singer with an acoustic or even electric guitar could plug in to and perform from... and actuall be able to sit right next to without much feedback issues from their mic or mics.

I have seen a couple bands use it with much success.

I am pretty sure that it was invented originally for live sound. That is the majority of the information in the paperwork that came with it, and those that have settings have little booklets that tell what settings are needed for each instrument.

Thanks guys, now, not to step on any toes here, but is there someone I could direct this guy to buy the system?

Unless Ben has started stocking the BOSE, I would get a hold of Cap also, he knows his stuff and you don't want to buy it from GC or most places because they just don't know what they are doing.

This is exactly the kind of info I like to see associated with any kind of popular brand product. No bashing, no better/worse than, just pure and useful information.

Thank you to all that made this thread as informative as you did.

The only thing I could think of that would make it even more informative would be screen shots or pics of an L1 base that shows the inputs that are available.

Scott Hanna sells them too I believe
