well Cerwin Vega has been owned by Stanton now for sometime and were very slow to jump into the powered speaker world and it seems there has been very little presence in the DJ world and I was hoping to see them represented at Mobile Beat the past few yrs but no such luck. I have yet to hear any revues on them mostly hoping to hear a DJ report. I havent a clue who is buying CV these days but not any DJ I know of. I did recently hear the small fifteen with powered tops system at a pro audio shop here locally. Not bad and similiar to the new QSC tiny setups.

Hey Jon,
I have 4 of their AB-36B's and can't complain in the shaken not stirred department :D:D:D:D:D:D:D

I have a better idea, Houston has a lot of run down properties and apartment complexes that the city needs to demolish, we should be the ones in charge of demolishing them while still providing entertainment for the masses :D:D:D:D:D

Now thats an idea! But the Cockroaches will get away! Wait a minute! We can first irritate the hell out o' them with some 12" and 10" noisy powered speakers! Ya know, like the kind some...........(Whispering) DJs use. Those high pitched noisy frequencies may kill 'em off! ched:sqlaugh::rofl::sqlaugh:

After Stanton took over CV went downhill fast. Thier gear has been junky the last few years

I have a set of MV15s I used for about 15 years (Still got em) and I also have a pair of AB36s and like Jacob said they will take walls out. I'd put them up against almost any other sub/folded horn

I got a look at some of thier newer stuff late last year and it seems they have made improvements they are back to sounding good again.

This 121 is a nice looking sub with good specs but at 186 Lbs I don't know how practical it is for mobile work

You are right Jeff. The Older stuff still "kicks azz". This new 21" is certainly not for the feint of heart or the weenies who complain about too much load! If you have a Roadie, no problem man!

I was looking at their stuff when I was first looking at getting a system. I demoed them at GC and while they didn't sound bad. They were a bit harsh and not "full" sounding. That was 2 of their double 8" tops and 1 18" sub. They are also quite a bit of money. You can buy a Zxa5 for the price of the double 8" top.

Jake post a link of what ya got pal.

Jon,
The lower floor of my place is a mess because they're varnishing my wooden floors so everything is in a corner, and covered with plastic, but here are a couple of shots of some of the visible stuff and what's piled behind. some of the CV's, the Yammies, Talmus, etc.

There's a ton of dust around from all of the sanding but that will be taken care of during the weekend :D:D:D:D:D

Wes...I seriously considered the Yorkville 21" active, but decided against it...I'd have to upgrade my NX 750PB's. LOL Besides, this ole' timer is not getting any younger and I don't know if Geritol (sp) would even work. :) IF, I were to go that route, then I guess a pair of EV ZXA5's might work. For now, I settle with the (1) York 801PB...and perhaps a sister sub down the road a ways.

Any suggestions...what to do for if I were to get the second 801PB? I don't know if the NX 750's could keep up. Experienced users please reply.

Subs are also really good for getting rid of kidney stones. Ask me how I know........

21" subs are nothing new...

Turbosound has has them in the Floodlight/Flashlight series boxes for YEARS..

From what i gather about them on Prosoundweb.com is they excell at the very
lowest of freq...

If you use them they are straight up SUB's and a you will need a Low/Mid box to fill in the gaps.

I recall getting some literature from a pro sound company in Spain in the late '90s, promoting their 21" bass cabinets. The cost was astronomical but the specs were some kind of sweet.

These things aren't marketed to DJs, probably due to the weight, size and expense. The lit I received was promotion for installs.

Wes...you correct. I don't max the Yorkie 750's ever. I keep forgetting that low end needs lots of watts, whereas tops not as much. I still wonder how the 100W HF in the 750P (100w HF + 650w LF 15") would fare in that system (two 801Ps)?
