Sorry... I missed this post until just now. I like the Z300... but not nearly as much as the X-310. It lacks some of the features that make a Fazer what it needs to be IMHO. It's a solid, well built unit... but I'd still get the 310 if it were my money (and I have put my money where my mouth is... I own a 310).

Ben

Ben-

Any thoughts on the smaller Antari Z300-II (or Z-300II ... I forget)?

I also want to open this discussion up to Foggers, Hazers, and Fazers. Not just the two.

How big of a difference in SMELL would there be between a $300/ish dollar FAZER and a fogger?

Honestly the smell probably has more to do with the fluid being used, but the difference becomes more pronounced with a fogger because the volume of output is greater and more concentrated. A Fazer distributes it much more evenly and at a slower pace so it is less noticeable.

I have both...

...and each has it's points. The hazer I have is nice for BIG rooms. It fills up the entire room with a fine mist. I have the Lemaitre which is exceptional at evenly filling the room. I like it in gymnasiums because the haze stays in the air for an extended time. The fogger lasts only minutes at best.

I also find that the kids will come up to a fogger and try to "suck" in the smoke (the morons), and you can't get away from that. This doesn't happen with a hazer.

I use two small $29 foggers at my club gig. I find that the smoke doesn't bother folks at the bar or dining room. It dissipates quickly and I try to just keep it over the dance floor. A hazer can't do that.

Regarding the Z300 vs. the 310.... what features are lacking in the first?

I've used the 310 before in gymnasiums... never used the Z300. The Z300 is the one thats in my price-range however. Not to be heavily used, mainly at several high-school events/year. I'll see how that picks up, and if the need arises probably get the 310.

I just want to know what I'll be missing out on. :sqerr:

No speed control or flow control in the Z300? Really?

I thought you could set the output % and the fan speed. I guess the fan speed itself doesn't matter, but you can still set the output % right?

Can you adjust output in 1% increments on the Z300?

Also, I assume that the fan(s?) run at 100% all the time? That wouldn't really bother me.

Theoretically yes, but practically no. The remote is analog, not digital. It is a rotary selector for the output. Please read the following excerpt from the manual for the 300:

The interval knob adjusts the time between discharges when the timer function is engaged.
The range is from 10 seconds ~ 250 seconds.

? The second knob, labeled volume, controls the volume of haze produced. The range is
from 0% ~ 100% of maximum output.

? The yellow TIMER button controls the timer function. Depress the button to activate. When
activated the yellow light will turn on. Adjusting the interval knob will determine the time
between haze output (10 ~ 250 seconds). The duration of output is set at 15 seconds. The
volume can be adjusted using the volume knob to control the amount of haze produced.

? The red CONTINUOUS button sets the machine to constant haze production. To activate
this function, depress the red button. The volume knob can be used to regulate the volume
of the steady stream of haze produced.

? The green MANUAL button will produce a continuous blast at maximum volume while the
button is held down. When released, the manual function stops and the machine will return
to the previous setting; timer; continuous; or stationary.

? Note: the Continuous function will override the Timer function. Therefore, if both buttons
have been depressed the Fazer will haze continuously. The manual function overrides all
functions. When depressed and held down the Fazer will haze at maximum volume for as
long as the button is held down, regardless of the machine’s setting at the time.

The 300 uses a "standard" 2 knob, 3 button remote seen on many other foggers, whereas the X-310 uses a digital 6 button remote. We are also including a free wireless upgrade to the X-310 with purchase. :D
