So far I am very impressed with the sound of the TourX system and even the little ZXA1's (altho I haven't used them at a gig yet but will on Sunday).

Load in and load out doesn't take any longer than it did in the past and there are fewer peices to move, albiet they are heavier.

I may be able to draw further parallels but for now it's enough to say that the bass from the Bose system was very pleasing aurally speaking.... the bass from the TourX is also very pleaseing from the stand point of tone and sheer SPL..... there is no way the Bose could keep up with the SPL however they would have performed just fine in the last couple of gigs.

It was kinda funny at the campground because at first they were like, "where's your Bose system...?" But, unlike last year where they were wanting me to turn it up... they never asked that question and just like last year they asked for "One more hour..."

So the whole Bose vs (name your system) is a valid one and I've always thought so too.... and just proved it over the last couple of gigs....

Bottom line here whether you use (system of choice) or Bose you are filling the needs of your clients as you see fit and as long as they are satisfied with the out come it really doesn't matter who's name is on the front of your speakers.

This is just one man's opinion take it for what it's worth.

Okay, so is this a "I love EV" or "I love Bose" thread?

:sqerr:Don't start that shyt all over again! We have been down that road before and every time we do there are those who are always left behind as casualties!:sqwink:

Neither... just drawing an accurate comparison based on proper experience with both systems instead of assumed information.... that's all.

Not a debate of which is better or worse just simple observations... I love both systems if money was there I'd still have both systems but, I had to make a choice in the end.

Hey, to be honest Rob, you know i'm an outspoken fan of the Tour X speakers, But we've been considering picking up a bose with the double bass for the house parties and small events like that we do from time to time. But for most events i would still run my EV's

Heck the Bose would be good for just about any party all the way up to some larger ones.... it's just a matter of what kind of sound you are after.... smooth and even, then go Bose.... high SPL then Tour X or (name your system) either will provide the coverage needed in most cases.

Two bose with double bass will handle a lot of parties.

If you are more of a club style dj...I think you will be disappointed in the Bose.

Thats my opinion.

By the way....the EVs are awesome! And guess what...SO ARE THE BOSE! AND SO ARE THE MACKIES! LOL

Thats my story and I am sticking to it.

Whats the "club Style dj" mean?? That you like more bass than a transistor radio?? Or that you play Bass heavy music?? I don't get it

I would not consider the Tour X a club style system. It's a nice system for most mobile applications. The Bose has it's place.

I wanted to give Rob props for trying out both systems and being quite honest in his opinion about both systems. I think you made a great move buying the Tour X because you can use the full rig or scale it down based on the needs of the particular event.

I might be making the jump to a set of EV's myself. I had a chance to try out the 2 Yorkville tops I've been itching for months to get. They are just way too heavy and I am not happy with the tone of the low end. My next trial will be a set of passive ZX5's.

Yea there is no way I need the EVs for most of my weddings. One they are heavy, and two it would be an overkill big time.

Now I went with Rob to the campground party, and they kicked major butt.

Again every speaker has its own applications.

You should play around with the EV's, although i use them for 85 percent of my gigs, ultimately they are a club rig. DJ'in clubs with 500 plus people, not to mention the school homecomings and proms is a huge part of my business and that's exactly where the Tour X has shown, I've never even been able to max it out yet. Best club system i've ever owned...now i should add that when i do the big clubs and dances i do also add in a tour x dual 18 on top of the rig that rob uses, but definitely a club system

All the money and time that has been wasted over the years!

Lord, please help these guys!:sqlaugh::sqlaugh::sqlaugh:

Really...you dont know what club style dj means? :sqwink:

In case you missed it...(it means) you are a big bass head, and you can never get enough.

Caution: thread hijack, I'll admit it this time!

I love bass, but I have had sound guys touring with bands that hit the bass (bass drum mostly) so loud and hard that I literally had to move to a different area because the bass was so strong that it was causing me to be sick to my stomach, not to mention feeling like I was gonna have a heart attack. Luckily the laws of physics are on my side and I can usually move a few feet somewhere in the room and find a null in the response and live there for a while, usually with earplugs in as well.

Don't get me wrong, I like it loud and hard and anybody who knows me personally will attest to that 100%, but there IS such thing as too much!

ok, end of thread hijack.

For events with younger people involved, the EV's are gonna make them happier. For the more moderate and mature crowd, the Bose's are probably more along the lines. Sometimes even just seeing big speakers makes the older people uneasy!

Oh whatever could you mean by that....???? I have no idea.... :sqwink:

Actually I wouldn't consider it wasted money quite the contrary I built a strong reputation on superior sound quality in the area and now I have the bookings to take it to the next level is all.... that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Anyone considering Bose or EV or Name your system needs to consider what their goals are at the time... and choose what fits them best no system is right or wrong as long as it can do the job desired of them. Certainly bad decisions can be made but hopefully the threads on this board can help folks make the right ones for themselves and not bias them towards one system or another due to peer pressure, ignorance or missinformation.

This was the sole purpose of this thread to allow folks to hear an unbiased opinion about one system vs another both are equally capable to fullfill their role in the industry and do it well I might add.

Thanks, Rob.

Your reviews have helped more folks than you'll probably know. I believe where some go wrong, they get too involved in the drama of marketing hype.

Good business decisions often come from past poor business decisions. If your clients are happy, your audiences are happy and you're happy, you have made a good decision. :)

I agree with you 100% and I have built my reputation on superior sound quality in the area! But I have spent my retirement money to achieve that goal!:sqlaugh:

I think it good, healthy, and informative when someone posts their personal experiences.

Thanks Rob for letting us know how your equipment did.

I would much rather read positive, informative posts than listen to someone bash ANYTHING, especially when they bash things they've never used, used very limited, or used incorrectly.
