Looking upbeat and fun.....

Looking to create a 3 song set using Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson, and The Jackson 5.

I don't know that I will ever use it at a party but I think it might be cool to do.... I am thinking that I would like to use Janet's "Black Cat"... 114 BPM as her song... but you tell me what you think works and I'll listen.

These are all around the same tempo and have key clashes, but I've worked out a beat mix:

When I Think of You - Janet Jackson (116.2)
Shake Your Body (Down To The Ground) - Jacksons (117.6)
Don't Stop 'til You Get Enough - Michael Jackson (119.3)

Another combination could be:

All For You - Janet (113.5)
Shake Your Body (Down To The Ground) - Jacksons (117.6)
Wanna Be Startin' Somethin' - Michael Jackson (122.0)

Here's the second mix, performed in OtsDJ:

Jacksons Mix

Cool, I get to critique Bryan :sqlaugh:

Not too bad Bryan, but a bit too clubbish for me :sqwink:

The down beats on the mix were off a bit I think (not sure of the exact terminology, as I don't beat mix much). I probably would have mixed them manually (course, I usually mix everything manually).

All in all, the songs went well together though, and would probably do well in a club, but I wouldn't do at a wedding or party.

As you could imagine, Rick, the ABM in OtsDJ is based on (probably floating-point) mathematics, and the slightest deviation in tempo can produce erratic results over the entire mix length.

These were songs that I just threw together, and I didn't tweak them.

I never was a beat mixer -- can't you tell? -- but I'm having a lot of fun with OtsDJ these days! :sqlaugh:

I really never play any Jackson 5 other than ABC. So, Honestly I don't know or can think of the songs. The older stuff is not the best stuff to beat mix either.

Anyhow, A great mix is:

Janet: Rythem Nation 114
Mike: Black or White 109

Bpm are if I remeber correctly but they are close.

You got the tempos backward, but that's a good mix!
