You could use YouTube.....

Maybe I'm missing the point - wouldn't be the first time - but I want to record and store my video from my laptop webcam, on my own hard drive, so I can upload it to sparkpeople.com.

Papa go to Start and type Movie Maker the program will show up and you're on your way. It's still there ;)

Papa, are trying to get your blog videos on your PC?

Outside of that question, the software that came with your camera should have a capture mode. What camera is it?

I want to take video with my laptop over the next week, while I am in NC... and also post to the sparkepeople site. The camera is built in to the laptop, so I have no idea what it is.

What is the brand/model laptop?

My guess is that the laptop has the software installed, you just have to find it in the start menu. I don't think Movie Maker will do it. You can however record right to facebook/youtube and save the videos there. When you get home, you can pull them down from facebook/youtube and edit them together with Windows Live Movie Maker.

I can assist you with that when the time comes.

Like i said before Windows movie maker can do this for free.
