Where is the best place to get a combo cable (XLR & IEC)?

At the end of the cable, how much slack between the xlr and iec? (how close does the electric and signal need to be together?)

For me, yes .. assuming 5 feet of slack on each end, that still allows me to spread the systems 30'. If I ever need longer, I use 2 separate cables.

If you are buying get one 25' and one 50'. I know the 50' is expensive, but I have been in many situations in the last year where my pair of 25' did not work, I was not centered on the floor. I use the 50' much more than I thought I would.

If I was doing larger events like you do, I agree ..

Right now I have no processing on it. I have 2 DriveRacks (PA and 260) and my guess is the 260 will get the job when I rebuild my rack. I also have a special "enhancer" .. a SPL Labs Vitalizer that I've been dying to work into the mix .. my old BBE didn't cut it and will be sold.

I'm planning to make 3 setups this spring .. a mini system with a 1RU mixer, a single wireless mic and a power strip for simple auto-playlist type stuff, or sports PA announcement which I do on occasion .. probably use the Ashly LX-308 I picked up and sell off the Rolls mixer in the current one. Next is a small DJ setup .. planning on getting a Denon MC6000 (or similar) with a wireless mic receiver and not much more. And then my bigger Karaoke setup. Still haven't decide what's going into each .. I think I have most of the components except for the MC6000.

I have a set of AccuCable 25' and a set of 50' and I really like them. Yes they are heavy, but I think they should last as long as I want to DJ. I forgot I also have a 10' single cable as sometimes I run a short cable to the sub and split the 25' to the tops.

Hey Steve,
Which version of the vitalizer are you speaking about?

On their website I see three versions. A Mark 2 & 2T, as well as the Tube Vitalizer.

It's the Mk2 .. thought about the tube version (mk-2T) but was afraid it wouldn't handle being transported too well. The tube vitalizer is really a post production "finishing" product.

I only tried it once .. sounded good .. hope it will fit in my rack when I get around to redoing it this spring (it's about 9.5" deep). My only concern is sooo many darn controls vs the BBE ... http://spl.info/fileadmin/user_uplo...izer_mk2/stereo_vitalizer_mk2_9526_manual.pdf

Looks like a nice unit. I've been debating on getting a "sonic maximizer" for some time now. I currently use an Aphex 204 only for vocals in some situations, but I'm looking for a unit to just add some sparkle to the overall mix without colouring the sound to much.

Will have to research it further. Many DJ/production companies use them and many do not, and many that do use them use them improperly, which puts undue stress on their speakers.

In general, while they fix some things, they tend to break others. The BBE added some sparkle and low end emphasis, but muddied up the mids too much for me. This SPL unit has much more control and supposedly works in a different way. I got a good price on a used unit (around $200) .. otherwise I wouldn't have dropped $800 on one.
