Hmmm???... A little TOO twangy for me![emoji3]

I'll play him because, after all, this is Oklahoma, but wouldn't be my favorite. [emoji3]

I like Eric songs, but agree with Bobcat that it's heavy on the southern 'twang. Seems a lot of country singers over-emphasize the drawl for effect .. sort of like wanna-be rappers over-do everything urban for effect. Johnny Cash didn't sing like that.

For those that keep Hank Williams Jr's "Born To Boogie" in their mobile collection, there's a new version on his brand new "It's About Time" album of it along with Brantley Gilbert and Justin Moore.

It's pretty cool IMHO.

He's ok - him and Brantley Gilbert are the popular ones at the moment.

I LOVE Born To Boogie! :) Justin Moore has done very well for the short time he's been around.

If they all ditched the cowboy hats and the boots (none of them are cowboys these days) and quit trying to sound like they think they're supposed to .. the music would be pretty damn good.

That hats and boots go with the theme - No different than any other artist, like Eminem, Nicki Minaj, Beyonce, Jay Z, Lady Gaga and Ariana. Although I'm glad to say Gaga has been a bit more 'normal' now.

But some of them really are cowboys. Like Garth Brooks, there are a bunch of C&W stars who own ranches here in Oklahoma.[emoji4]

Garth has worn baseball caps in performances ... and certainly doesn't try to fake the twang.

Blake Shelton doesn't seem to wear them much .. and sings pretty normal southern. Johny Cash rarely wore them .. it's sort of like rappers who need to speak "urban" and wear jeans that are falling off .. doesn't make the music any better.

Are you kidding me???[emoji2] Are you forgetting he wore his cowboy hat on top of his MULLET!!! [emoji4] Oh... but he is also from Oklahoma and owns a ranch here.[emoji3]

OK .. post-pubescent Blake.

BTW .. I have relatives in OK .. though by some mystery dealing with the military in WWI, they spell their last name Montamble.

I also was in our Senior Class play of Oklahoma .. so we have that connection as well ...

You're right .. the outfits do not make the music any better .. but it does help with the theatrics. Could you imagine Johnny Cash in low riding jeans, a hoodie, sunglasses and baseball hat with a flat bill? If you take a peek into Blake's past, he was a long haired cowboy hat wearing fella.

Some bull riders wear cowboy hats, some wear baseball hats, some wear full face protecting helmets. Some wear chaps, some don't. Some talk with a british accent, some don't. None of this affects the way they ride. Show up wearing a tux and I think people will talk.
