Just wondering what everyone's thoughts are on offering something like Jammtext for weddings. You can check it out here if you are not familiar with it.

I know @rickryan.com uses (or used to use) something similar.
Mix has some video carts for sale ...I have been considering the same thing. They have been sending me emails. My problem is, I feel I would also need to purchase a Totem and hang the flat screen from the Totem in order to do it right. Again more, equipment, and more set up time.
Not quite sure how many brides would buy into it. ...I run about 10% for the Up Lighting add on. If this only ran at 10% I don't see it as being with the time and effort to offer it.
I could just bring a small table, set flatscreen TV on table, and the overall cost would be cheaper for me...but a table takes up more space, and doesn't look Great. Overall tough call, but it's a neat concept.
I believe it was Firetext Rick was using very similar concept.
Might be a good upsell for a year or two for $20/month it might be worth a try
Why not put a flat screen on a speaker or light stand, it would look a whole lot more professional, and be high enough to be readI have been considering the same thing. ...Also, Rick's warning is another hassle to deal with. I doubt brides/grooms care to see Crude messages, or filthy language put up on the screen during the event.
Was that from you ??At one wedding I had a text message that read, "Jessica, you look beautiful tonight. Your secret lover."
It happens, a lot.
I had thought about that...is there some sort of adaptor kit to be able to do that correctly? Or can a store bought swivel set with the backing plate to the TV fit into a stand?
Not going to get a tripod mount to handle much higher than that without ballasting the legs.Mount only holds a tiny 20 inch screen and stand doesn't go high enough at 6 feet. Gotta get the screen up HIGH!
What I do is home-grown. I use a google voice number to receive texts, then cut-paste them to my display program. It's crude, but it works. I've been down-playing this option for the past couple of years. It adds more logistics hassle than it gets me in sales. The concept is solid though, and it will help show you as different from the other DJs in the area.
One thing to be aware of, it looks like the product shown is hooked up directly to the publicly-shown projector. I can't stress how incredibly STUPID that is. I receive (sometimes very highly) inappropriate texts from guests. You'd be a fool to just let it run to the screen and then try to react. We have to nuke messages on a regular basis and I'd probably say it's on a majority of the events we do. You've been warned.
Hi, I'm one of the founders of the company. We saw there was a discussion going on here. Thank you all for your opinions and feedback.
There seemed to be a little confusion on how our software works. No messages get shown on screen unless you approve them to be shown. We've designed a clever control window that sits unobtrusively on top of whatever DJ software you run that you can use to approve messages. Most of the time you don't look at it. But it'll alert you when you have a message and whenever you have time, you can hit the checkmark or X. If you get 50 messages in a night, it really doesn't take more than 2 minutes total. But if that's still cumbersome, you can also elect to have someone else moderate from another computer. It doesn't even have to be at the event. They can run it from home. JammText is all cloud-synced.
Firetext was a similar concept, but it was significantly more difficult to get started with and more expensive, upwards of $1000. We streamlined and simplified everything so you can literally be up and running in 5 minutes. All you need is a laptop, internet, and screens to show JammText on. And we're offering a free trial, then it's only $19.99/mo.
