Welcome Jason .. nothing wrong with moonlighting as an engineer .. you're in good company.

Hey guys, I'm David... been DJ'ing on and off for several years, started in radio at 16, worked for a multi-op part time, then invested in my own gear about five years ago. I enjoy the everything about it, and look forward to talking to and learning from all of you in the future!

Hi, I'm not actually a DJ but a music and lighting enthusiast. I've been working on a potential product for DJ's and hoping to get some feedback to decide whether to keep going with it and what direction. Posting in the lighting section... Perry

Hi everyone, my name is Shawn. I am an IT guy and software developer that has been dipping my toe into DJing with my daughter. She is 17 and started a DJ company at 15. I help her however I can and have run several events for her when she had school functions that would have prevented her from DJing. I also do most of the Emcee duties for her at events. I like to keep up with whats out there to offer guidance to her when and where I can and just found this forum.

Here is a pic of the 2 of us for a wedding at a classic car museum....

And her setup for a prom...

Very cool, and welcome to the forum! I started at this when I was 15 as well, and it has turned into a habit that I haven't been able to kick for the last 17 years...

Did you guys do that gold pipe and draping, or was it already there?

I think it's pretty darn cool that your Daughter who is in high school started a DJ company herself, and you are helping her, and getting into it too! I also think that the set up is very clean for being only a couple years in the business! She certainly has a passion for this business, and at a young age!

Funny you ask that...that was provided by the venue. The event was on the second floor of a historic building and this was the cover for the elevator (really cool old style where you had to close the cage to make it run....) This was the next event the following weekend.... She liked it so much, we invested in one.

I love being able to do it with her. She took a DJ class in Austin and got hooked. I told her I would get the equipment and she had to give me 50% of any fees (she keeps 100% of tips) until the equipment is payed off. But, we keep growing and getting better and more equipment so that pay off may never happen.

My son was her backup originally, but he is in college now. He is wanting a small 2 channel controller and something like the Fender Passport to do college parties with and make some money on the weekends. So, we may be expanding to 2 locations.
