I have a very short attention span, and I got tired of nothing but still photos pretty early.

Taso's videos have actual VIDEO footage, which I think makes them 100x more engaging to watch.

No offense, Taso...but I never liked the "personal" intros. But I think it's a matter of length... because it makes total sense from a marketing standpoint for you to be in the video. Perhaps for a shorter amount of time. You are not why they are watching the video.

Just my opinions.
You're right and personally no offense taken (I like different opinions), but you're not the one booking the dj lol. The potential bride is, and I think too many Dj's hide their image, where as I showcase it. Two comments stand out to me that I've received over the years because of those intros... "We felt like we've known you forever after seeing you in your videos and the how much you're into your event"... "you dressed and presented yourself so much more professional than anyone else". At the same time, I too believe that too much of something isn't a good thing. So I try to find a good balance of videos with me talking and other's without me talking... that way if you see one video with an intro, chances are the next one you click will not have me and get straight to dancing so you don't have to hear me again. I typically only talk at weddings that have a lot going on and there's something worth talking about. Besides this video with me talking, the next Wedding video with me talking in the beginning was taken in May, meaning there are 6 or 7 videos between the two that don't have me speaking.

But again you have to look at the big picture, not just a few of the 200 videos. Everyone watches the videos for a different reasons, some are looking at the video For me to see who I am and what I do. Some are guests at the wedding and could care less about me and just want to relive the night. Some are dj's just looking for equipment eye candy. You're also forgetting all the videos I post to instagram. Each video I post on vimeo is condensed down to a minute and shared to instagram for those followers. Those videos have no talking from me or anyone, and each clip is about 3-4 seconds long... a completely different approach which is straight to the point, and quick snippets to not lose engagement, as users can swipe in milliseconds and go to the next picture.

I COMPLETELY agree. The video footage, along with the quality of the presentation makes Taso's videos a very compelling sales tool. I wish I'd been taking video footage on our other events but I've gotta start where we are. My plan is to take along a camcorder for this weekend's events. We have the Schermerhorn on Saturday. This one will likely be our most elegant event to date. We're doing photo-only as they have a 10-piece live band. On Sunday, we're doing Belle Meade Plantation, which is the top wedding venue in town. My plan is to capture some video footage and mix that with stills, once editing is complete. I'm also planning to start putting these videos on our page that lists our complete photo galleries. By the way, please take a look here. This is a listing of pretty much all of the photo+DJ events we've done in the past few years. I think it also pretty accurately shows the progress we're making in improving our own quality. Like DJ work, it's sometimes humbling when you go back a few years and take note of what needs improvement. Any comments or helpful suggestions are appreciated.

I take videos all the time at my events. My problem is, I am the one taking them with my phone so I can't really get any body to take video of me. Also, I can't get EVERY Great moment at an event...I mean, I am deejaying it. Taso has a DILIGENT assistant take video footage which I think is the real key to the videos.

Maybe that's what Mix uses his "business partners" for?

In my defense, I make radio commercials....where "less is more".
So I am always trying to keep things within a very short time frame (30 or 60 seconds)

Don't change a thing, my friend.
You have mastered the art of "you" very well.

If wanna do this you have to spend some money and hire someone to do video

Just posted my 2nd slideshow. Hopefully, this one is paced a little better (faster) and I used a royalty-free track for the music bed. I also cut this down to about 2 minutes total. It still seems to tell the full story but doesn't take quite as long to do it. Comments welcome.

Much cleaner and faster .. the song was the only glaring part .. the guitar was fine, but about 2/3 of the way in it sounded like bubblegum pop in the background .. sort of a lite version of this:

The song in Rick's video wasn't that bad. Had a good tempo and didn't detract from the photos. I liked it. Wouldn't take much to edit the music file to get rid if the blooping though.[emoji4]

It's not bad but let's be honest, it ain't that good either. You gotta weed thru a LOT of crap stuff on those royalty-free sites. It drives me crazy that so many of them start off really nice. Gorgeous piano or guitar and then about 20 seconds in there's this horrendous, out-of-tune bass guitar or some other completely stupid sound effect that ruins the track.

Why don't you get some guys together and knock out 10-20 minutes of "jam" and use parts of that ..

You can edit them and splice the good parts together.[emoji4] Even repeat the best sections.
