    New Website

Hey guys, long time no see. You know how it is when you get busy. Anyway I just updated my website. What do you guys think? The gallery doesn't work yet (anyone know a good photo gallery Joomla extension?) but other than that I think this is the feel I want the site to have. Thoughts...

Bar & Club thinkin of opening an "under 21" club...

Yeah, I wanted to do something like that as a Christian hang out for a long time. But that limits your pool even more, and makes it even harder to turn a profit. The only place we have around here that is still in business is a place that is a "club" on Thursday and Friday and then has local...

    Moving Head on T-bar?

Yeah, that would be pretty tacky and not very safe (even for small movers). Mike

    60 hz strikes again

Yeah, better to get to the root of the problem (probably audio/video/lighting on the same leg of power), but if the client doesn't want to do that, what can you do? Mike

    Lighting Truss vs Lighting Stand

By the way, you can just use sticks of truss on base plates with the lights attached to them. Most places I know have at least 10' ceilings (which is what you would need). And yes, that does not work for every event in every venue. You have to know when to use it and when to not. My wife and...

Weddings Weddings and "Recommended Vendors" fees?

Like I said, they are venues that are booked solid for next year (2011) already. These places are not hurting for business. Mike

Weddings Weddings and "Recommended Vendors" fees?

I believe that is handled on a case by case basis. Because I know of one corporate event that used a band (there is no band recommended vendor list, but they have the right to refuse any band performing there). Mike

Weddings Weddings and "Recommended Vendors" fees?

The places I know of have lists for everything. Cakes, catering, linen, decorators, planners, lighting, sound, dj, rigging, etc. Mike

Weddings Weddings and "Recommended Vendors" fees?

How? There is a list. 2-3 caterers, 2-3 bakers, 1-2 lighting companies, 4-5 DJs, etc. You have a choice, just one off of their approved lists. I don't have access to any legal databases. If you do, look up Sheridan vs Brown I think it is. Mike

Weddings Weddings and "Recommended Vendors" fees?

Exactly. And all the venues I work with that have approved list only policies are full every weekend and 50 weeks a year. Mike

    Extension Cords

I am with you. Then again my rigs don't use plain old extension cables and I doubt most places keep 0000 feeders laying around. Mike

    Extension Cords

Not necessarily in this part of town. This also links back to the approved vendor thread. You can bet with some of the venues I have talked to if you asked for all this stuff you would not make the approved list. And it depends on the venue. I have talked to planners that will only work...

Weddings Weddings and "Recommended Vendors" fees?

Many have tried and failed (I know of two last year). They claim safety and licensing. Also they will decline business to the client before allowing them to use an approved vendors. Used approved vendors or go get another venue. Mike

Weddings Weddings and "Recommended Vendors" fees?

That is a word for word quote from one venue that I am trying to get on their preferred list. Mike
