    Not Dead

Hey guys, been crazy busy. I have a part time job just two days a week that has kept me busy and you know I am hobby DJ, just like two gigs a month. Well I became prime vendor at one local wedding facility and continue to pick up school dances, reunions and private parties Doing 5-6 gigs a...

    Still alive

Sorry guys been crazy busy around here, so I been out. I done a bunch of dances this month, 1/3 of what I did last year, even had wedding and a PROM on Saturday. Things may slow down for a couple weeks. Had a couple of Ricks buds from Nashville in convention center with me Saturday night. One...

How to Delete an Account ....

That would be a nice greeting LOL. There are a few of the young guys over there that give very good gear and set up advice.

How to Delete an Account ....

Well said, go over to the Serato forum if you want to see some really low life responses, I would say that is the best site for the club DJs and Rap crowd. Don't get me wrong there are some really good mannered and helpful people on that site, but I feel more like I am in thug culture when I visit.

Top 40 Song Lists by Year

I have done several 50 year class reunions and I have found that if you look at the popular music from their junior high grades through HS and college then select 80% of your music from those years, they will be happy. Of course you will still have to throw in the line dances as many of the...

How to Delete an Account ....

I find it strange also, as I am a member of five different sites and this one is by far my favorite. Not that I don't like the others, I just find most of the people here much more mature and friendly. Everyone has a bad day now and again, I had no problem with Houston, though I have to agree...

    Combo cable

I have a set of AccuCable 25' and a set of 50' and I really like them. Yes they are heavy, but I think they should last as long as I want to DJ. I forgot I also have a 10' single cable as sometimes I run a short cable to the sub and split the 25' to the tops.

    Combo cable

If you are buying get one 25' and one 50'. I know the 50' is expensive, but I have been in many situations in the last year where my pair of 25' did not work, I was not centered on the floor. I use the 50' much more than I thought I would.

How much money did you spend on advertising last year?

I guess I need to learn from some of you guys, I spent $68.99 on 1000 business cards, my only expense. HOWEVER those will last me three years :) Sorry to the original poster, as I don't do this for a living so my approach is a lot different. no Facebook, no web page and no expensive...

    stick or "lollipop" style headphone

I do a lot of interface with the clients on their music wishes. Like I said above, it is easy once you establish a playlist, to move songs in or out, change the sets and quickly set up the mix points. I would say on average 70% to 80% of the playlist is used and the rest I move in or out. It...

    stick or "lollipop" style headphone

Used headphones all the time in the 70's and 80's, don't even have a pair now. As a computer DJ and using VDJ8 it is easy to get rid of the intros and outs, and match a good beat point to start the new track. Of course I go to every event with a playlist made and already matched and mixed...

Square Direct Invoicing - First Major Issue - Be Cautious!

As always CAP you not only give people good warning/advice, you provide a recommended fix to the problem. A lot like the soldiers I served with for many years.

How about just being the MC

Jeff, I don't impose the no drinking part, it is the rule of the venue. The owners are an older religious couple, who have never drank in their life. They are the nicest people you could ever meet and a joy to work with. They like me because I keep the music extremely clean and we keep the...

How about just being the MC

My basic DJ/MC package is much cheaper than yours, I offer 100.00 off, if I am just the DJ and they provide their own MC/Planner for all the formal stuff. I offer the system at half my rate if they want to I-Pod their wedding (still including a wireless mic). You bring up a good question as I...

    New mixer for Evox

I have the Yamaha 12 that Steve showed above and built up a ceremony rig off it, with digital recording, feedback suppression, computer glide and Mix Track Edge built into the rack. The only reason I went with 12 over the 10 that Rick showed was I wanted sliders and not knobs. I have bear paws...

    ShootOut - Evox 8 vs JBL/Yamaha

Which EVs, have no fans. All my ETX stuff has swirl cage fans that are dead silent, mounted over the power supply.

    VDJ7 vs VDJ8

When you move a song around in automix, or move a song into automix from another playlist, make sure you don't leave it highlighted (click on the song at the top of your aoutomix section again, the next song is always the highlighted one). If you leave the song you move in highlighted, it will...

    Whats your thoughts

I am a member of six different DJ Forums, this one is my favorite, and I don't think you guys are hard on people. I guess I just didn't notice Houston not around, so maybe is isn't all bad. It probably helps tricky Ricky's blood pressure more than anyone :embarrassed:

    Whats your thoughts

Did Houston get booted? He could be a headache at times, but maybe I missed something as far as him going across the line. I am a moderator in a live gaming room, and for the (AAWC) Axis and Allies World Club, electronic version of the old board game. Unless someone uses fowl language, or gets...

    My new Insta-Quote is online

Rick, I agree with you here 100%. I only did 10 weddings last year, and only had one B&G book dance lights. It was an outdoor in a huge tent, with a 30'x30' dance floor and they wanted haze and lights. I have 12 booked so far this year and not a single one wants any kid of lights. Of course...

DJ Table? Do you bring your own or use the venue's?

All my current set ups are in cases that fit on a single X-Stand, so I always have two in the van. I do have two different tables in my trailer if I am doing a big set up. I guess the easy answer is yes I bring everything I need to do any show, all I need is power.
