What are your thoughts on the DD12?

Maybe Mix can pick up a set and let us know.

What are your thoughts on the DD12?

Ross, I am partial to RCF myself as I switched from QSC about 2 years back. Love the sound. Rick, you know Martin-audio is known as the end all be all when it comes to sound quality in high end PA systems. It's not all about SPL. PS, this thread was really a word for word copy of Mix's JBL...

what you think of these for tops (unpowered)

Those JBL's are meant for speech. Think house of worship, or auditorium for public speaking. even coverage front to back of room, wide dispersion. Low SPL.

What are your thoughts on the DD12?

Martin Audio makes DD12 and they have it on sale for $5959 in Adorama. I'm not looking to buy. I just want to start a discussion. What do you think of those speakers?

    Denons new Engine Prime

Yes the sound engine in VDJ 8 is lightyears better than 7, when no alterations applied. I didn't believe it myself until I A/B'd it. There are tons of threads on VDJ site as well as others speaking of the poor sound engine in 7.

    Denons new Engine Prime

To answer the OP. No, I haven't got to try Prime, and as a lifetime Pioneer user, I won't even try Rekordbox either. I agree Handinon that I would try to avoid a closed system as you are locking into one environment. I remember the Pioneer DMP-555 which was revolutionary, and obsolete within...

Play the same song on the same computer, through the same hardware and high quality speakers, using Virtual DJ 7. Then play the same song using Virtual DJ 8 or Serato and tell me that software doesn't have a sound. I purchased 4 Evox 8's 2 years ago to replace my K12's over K-sub setups. I...

    FOH options for small festival

Thanks Bill, and Mike. I didn't land the gig anyway. Lost to a $1400 quote. I couldn't go that low on labor alone for a two festival. I did have an experience A1 lined up, who was going to bring a nice Danley setup. We would have had to setup and tear down each day. 24 hours labor each for...

Just spent the night making custom first dance songs for weddings

So to all those who don't charge. What would you do if your client rejected or had you change it 20 times. Your 20 hours of work isn't worth something. Any custom work (custom song edits, custom monograms not from a template, custom photo strip design for photo booth not from template) we...

FYI, here is the news coverage from last year....Wasn't really loud when you hear the bands play, a few tent vendors in the grassy area. Rocktoberfest Kicks off Breast Cancer Awareness Month in Lehighton

    FOH options for small festival

TJ I am hiring a local a1 to run the sound. I am not doing it my own for the first time. I may not have mentioned it in this thread, but about 100ft left and right of the stage are rows of homes, and they would like to keep the db levels under 100db at the homes. Last year attendance peaked...

    FOH options for small festival

FWIW: I Googled "sound production companies" and "live sound rentals" in my area and found companies (closest about 2 hours) and found people advertising Tapco Thumps and Yamaha ELX. Maybe I'm overdoing it...lol

TJ That is one reason I considered the QSC KLA. I prefer the QSC sound over JBL's personally, plural cabinets can be found plentiful used when I need to add. VRXs are a little harder to find used.

The Evox's work great for corporate presentations etc... I originally thought about more RCF as I could mix and match depending upon needs.

Right now I am focussing mores on corporate events, and maybe some more small concerts like this as I get my feet wet on live sound events.

Steve the FBT's have a 75 degree or 50 degree angle depending which way you turn the horn and go to 135.5db. They are FBT's Touring line. The subs as mentioned are 140db too. Are you saying to purchase tops that are even higher performing than that? I have to keep the db's below 100 outside...

Hey Cap, I'll have to audition them. Never got to hear a pair. I was going to use my 4 Evox systems, and stack the tops to do the same thing (flip one upside down on top of the other to make a c curve), but I wasn't sure it would be enough

    FOH options for small festival

Steve thanks. I am kind of between the two systems listed. One they expect about 300 people there at any given time based on last years numbers. The first requirement was they want great sound quality, second requirement was to not piss off all the people in the houses 100 ft from the stage...

    FOH options for small festival

Hello old friends, I came seeking advice (or opinions), First of all, it's good to be back. Now to ask for some advice. I was asked to provide a sound system for a local music festival in October. It will be outdoors. And the stage (20ft wide by 20 ft deep) is a band shell (1/4 dome 26 ft wide...

I guess all the people who said no expenses, don't pay taxes on the income? I guess they don't pay for insurance? Rental costs should be a basic building block of your pricing. If it would cost someone to pay $300 to actually rent the gear, then that would be a rental cost. Do rental houses...

Ricky are you being serious? What about expenses, what about planning, what about equipment rental fees? He would probably be making closer to $14/hour.

    Global Truss ST-132 Crank Stands

I have the ST-32s. They work great. Need a little maintainance at times if someone is careless, but maintainance is easy. If you need maintainance on direct drives you need to send them to the manufacturer. The 132s are about 68lbs, and are a single shaft.
