I hope that price is for the newer V2 evox and not because they are trying to clear out the first generation.
I didn't look close enough to check, but did re-check the prices as I was trying to remember yesterday .. the price for the EVOX 8 was $1395 with a free cover, and the EVOX 12 was $1875 with covers.

Saw the new JBL PRX 812 speaker .. only pair in the US. Has Bluetooth and a decent mixer section. The Harmon guy said they should be arriving in 4 weeks or so: PRX800 Series Products | JBL Professional

Listened a bit to the JBL EON One .. not bad .. and on special at the show for $799. Sounded a little fuller than the Bose Compact (though I haven't listened enough to validate that) .. but not as good as the EVOX 8, though might actually be on par with the EVOX 5. A nice unit if they stay at $799ish.

There was a new company there .. Feur Pro .. they were touting themselves as a German speaker company, but all their speakers looked like ripoffs of other designs ...

Here's their FX12 ( FU-FX12 ) which was about as blatant a ripoff of the RCF EVOX 8 as you could get .. exact same shape of the upper box and the same front face of the sub (different amp look and the poles/top stored in the middle of the sub) ..

Their speakers sounded like crap. They also claim these real high wattage ratings which is BS.

Went back in today. The RCF price will be held for the rest of the month according to the Chuck Levin people.

I did buy a couple of O-clamps, some DMX cables and, Ricky will like this, a pair of AA ELS GO8BT speakers. Got them for $160 a piece. Battery powered and BT. I succumbed to the cheap side. [emoji4]

Those American Audio ELS Go8BT speakers will be the best $160 per speaker you ever spent! That is a great deal! I noticed them for $169.

They had the CPX Series 10" speakers for only $149 per speaker. I thought that was a great deal, but don't need any more speakers. No room for them.

I think they were marked $169 .. The sales rep offered he could do $160, so I said get me 2. They were playing one off a USB stick and it sounded OK for the size.

The AA would be good for rentals like @tunes4046 mentioned.
Sounds ok, but at that price no big loss if it gets wrecked.
Although I would have preferred it have a 10" speaker like the Denon instead of the 8".

Speaking of which, was there much from Denon at the show?

I was hoping they had a 10" or 12" version, but AA only has the 8 and a 15. The Denon Envoi sounded better, but for me, it looks like a piece of luggage on a pole, as you can't remove the handle or the wheels. The Envoi also comes with a wireless mic, which could be useful, but I got the pair of GO8BTs for 2/3 the cost of a single Envoi.

Just got the wrap-up email from the Expo ...

They claim they grew 8% from last year and sold out their exhibit spots .. We shall see what next year brings and Cap promised to pull together the ODJT party .. :)

Despite the uncertainties surrounding the show’s venue, which announced it would close after Labor Day, DJ Expo raged on. Produced by DJ Times magazine and its publisher Testa Communications, the show sold out its exhibit hall (200 booths) and saw a significant uptick in attendance (6,150 DJs, representing an 8-percent increase from the ’15 show).

They posted that article on Face book, and I responded saying I thought it was a bit of propaganda. I thought that there were less attendees this year as I walked around the Expo floor both on Tuesday and Wednesday and it sure seemed like less people walking around than previous years. Other DJs chimed in agreeing with me. They may have sold out on booths, but a few years ago when Virtual DJ had a big, large booth there I felt they were using more floor space back then. They did lose retailers who were there in 2015, but were not there this year. So I dunno if they were fibbing, or if every booth was sold out, but they are inflating the attendance numbers. MAYBE they had 6,150 people register, BUT a lot of people who registered did not attend the show.

I just can't believe over 3,000 actually attended that show.

I remember 2 years ago it extending to the other wall, where there was a curtain cutting off the last 25 feet or so this year ..

Vendors come and go .. most don't make money at the show .. it all depends on who has the marketing budget that year. Would have liked to see Yamaha and the software companies, but most vendors made it .. I will go again .. assuming they find a convenient spot.

I've heard there's some nice spots in West Orange .. Maybe Mix's ex-partner's cousin's girlfriend's ex-wife's hairdresser could hook them up.

It's a bit selfish, but I'd love to see them move it to the DC area. National Harbor has huge event spaces, and with a brand new $1.4 Billion MGM casino going up, they wouldn't have to give up much compared to AC. You add convenient air travel from just about anywhere into one of 3 airports, and very drive-able on the east coast.

I think the space costs in NJ are lower ... I'd hate to pay $200 just to get into the expo area.

Yea somewhere in Orange New Jersey would be great maybe one of the VFW halls, or one those old buildings with no A/C or elevators, I hear peopl are use to having to pay admission to get into events there

Just received an email from the DJ Expo folks (DJ Times) .. pointed to a questionnaire around where next years show might be.
Questions:
What other location would you be interested in? (NYC, Philly, CT Casino)
If in AC, what other hotel area would you like? (Boardwalk, Convention Center, Marina Area)
What max price would you pay per night of lodging? (130, 150, something higher I forget)
Would you use Uber around AC? (yes/No) .. Kind of a weird random question
