Scrapping the entire video format because of one or two questionable video content tracks is like making the entire entire platoon do a 1,000 pushups because one fella didn't have shined shoes.

I heard they canceled Mother / Son & Father / Daughter dances up in New England because there was a daughter that did not have a dad to go with. It wasn't 'fair' to her .. but somehow this is fair to those that do and want to go?

We're messed up, up here ... no doubt about it.

I am exclusively VJ'ing at every event, especially weddings. Client acceptance, even excitement, abounds in my area.

The visual content of most of the individually posted tracks are not considered offensive although borderline, with the exception of Minaj and Cyrus, who I do not play regardless of popularity.

If there are a lot of children in attendance, then more care is exercised in showing the video, substituting ambients or jpegs.

Thanks Cap, what are the videos that you run with jpegs?

Regarding the topic of this old thread, I would not recommend or sell music video to a wedding client because it is a horrible thing to do to people who may not be experienced enough with entertaining to know what that does to such an important occasion and moment in their lives.

I'm not going to argue the explicit content angle because we all understand that intuitively. The content is disgraceful. Instead, I'm suggesting that any self-respecting professional would dissuade the couple from doing anything that detracts and upstages the couple themselves. Music videos at the event are for that reason alone disqualified from my sales to that event type.

Any video I do at a wedding is strictly related to the couple, family or some other aspect of who and what we are celebrating,

Perhaps if either of both the bride and groom were well known for having been a dancer in well known pop music videos - then maybe I would include those in the dance program, but that's about the only exception I can conceive of for a wedding.

The ceremony is ALL ABOUT THE COUPLE, the reception is A PARTY for all. There is nothing that says music videos are bad at a PARTY. Taste, unfortunately, is subjective.

...but vulgarity, masoginy & soft core porn are obvious...and a wedding reception is neither the time nor place.
Yes .. common sense "should" be in place ..

Then you have a fundamental misunderstanding of the role of the wedding reception. The ceremony is about the couple, the reception is about FAMILY and community. Music video is antithetical to all three.
