I have a Client who wants Karaoke added to DJ Event, wanting to know what my extra charge would be for Karaoke. My 1st thought is $350 extra.
I use Virtual DJ; however, I have never used Karaoke option. I have searched the Forum for Karaoke advice.

This will be a 1-Time Event for Karaoke.
What would I need to play Karaoke on Virtual DJ?
If too much is involved, I will just pass this on to my Karaoke friend, and see if they will be interested in hiring her, as she is a KJ.

Any good advice will be appreciated. Thanks!

Your best bet is to use Karafun. The key to karaoke is having the songs they want to sing. The selection for the karaoke Songs in VDJ which you have to subscribe to isn’t any good. You’re also going to be missing a listing of the songs that you have. Karafun Solves all those problems. I haven’t used it but I’ve seen other guys use it. I’ve been doing Karaoke a while, so I have a whole separate karaoke music library Usually when they add on karaoke to a DJ you don’t end up doing a ton of karaoke so it’s important to a list of songs and have some good stuff they want. Then it’s a matter of balancing dancing with karaoke. I used to do combo events DJ/Karaoke but not any more. It’s either DJ or 100% karaoke.
But look into Karafun it is what guys in your position use. Good luck

You'll have to have a monitor or two for singers to see the lyrics too

The question I present is if you do it, will it be worth spending the money to get it done? Now I say if you'll only be doing it one time then it's not worth it. If you can let your friend do it since you said she is good at it.

I'm with adj, Karafun is your best option. For something like $5, you can use their entire library for a 3-day period. Personally, I won't take a gig anymore that has karaoke but, assuming you're new, this is a good option. Oh yeah, you'll need wifi access at the gig.

Client contacted me today, offering $500 for the Karaoke add-on, as she said that they really want it.

So will you be doing it? O agree with your using Karafun. My friend used to use it. It cost him $20 a month.

This is a (currently) 1 Time Request, as I have not been asked for Karaoke over many years. RickRyan, ADJ2cent, and others have given great advice. I am always learning something on OJTK! Thank you DJ's!!
Will you be doing Karaoke at this wedding?

This is not for a Wedding; I never said that it was for a Wedding. Where did you get "wedding" from my Post. It is a Private Company Event, requesting Karaoke as an Add-On.
Sorry I made a mistake. Now again will you be doing it or are you turning it over to the lady you mentioned? When it comes to Karaoke what is needed usually are books with names of artist and songs that people can pick out to sing. Of course you will need to make sure you have the song to put up on a screen and play the music.

I don't know what you were getting for your basic DJ rate but $500 is fantastic, just to add on karaoke. As much as I despise K-gigs, if I could get an extra $500, I'd be doing them all the time. Kudos to you, my man!

I was surprised as well after hearing "...our Group really wants Karaoke. We can do $500 for Karaoke." ... So, after learning here on ODJT, Karafun looks like the Answer that I needed. Thanks to you all.

Sounds good. But I’d just do a complete test run with the S/W so you know where to send them for the songs list, how to play the karaoke songs and connect the singers screen. I’ve seen it used but I never went over to check out the setup. I was just checking out the app on my iPad.
Okay; Thank you.
