Keyboard stand is just fine for me. Been using it for years.
(uses lid as table top, linen optional)

hank i see u don't use DJ mixer, i did that for many years, worked out super good, didn't miss a thing using software. Now i have denon mc3000 with VDJ, can't say it made day&night difference. Makes transitions and loop little easy but not like a life saver or somethign. So thinking to go back to my old setup and keep it light. I do use good high quality soundcard. How does it work out for you?

I have no use for cross-fading as I do not mix beats. For most things, I just need and open channel and VDJ. This basic setup is perfect for use with active speakers. I can always bring an amp case and cabs as needed.

Doggone Hank, that's really a neat-looking rig you've put together. Thee questions;

1) How much does it weigh?
2) What do you use for a writing surface (for paperwork, request sheets, etc)?
3) Have you never had someone bump into and (almost) knock it over?

1. Thanks Rick. It's very light because I used the PVC wood and thin paneling for the base and top.
2. Writing? It's a computer. Use notepad or VDJ.
3. It can take a good bump. One would have to literally fall over it.
Here's a few of the build pics...

ceremony systme 1 copy.jpg I use a keyboard stand for my ceremony setup. Legs fold out and it's like a small table. I throw spandex material (or white lace fabric) over it for a table cloth.

Hank, you brought a tear to my eyes....seeing my favorite DJ program...good old PCDJ Red!
I still have it too .. just doesn't get used anymore. I keep thinking about upgrading to the current version (now called PCDJ DEX RE - RE for Red Edition) so I can do karaoke and music in the same app. At some point I'll compare it to VDJ to see what might be best for me.

On what OS were you running the old Red?

I'd love to re-install it on my home machine just for fun but it runs on W10.

Thankfully, RockIt words fine.

Win 7 on my laptops. Would need to try in on 10 as I've moved most systems to Win 10.

I shall take this moment to remind all of you that the 'free' upgrade to Win10 (from Win7, 8 or 8.1) expires on June 29th.

BTW .. just upgraded PCDJ Red Mobile to PCDJ DEX 3 RE .. it was free for Red Mobile 2 users .. same license key .. just download the code from the PCDJ site (under Support). Works fine on my Windows 10 laptop .. also works fine for karaoke, but only has a single lyrics screen (which normally gets pushed to a 2nd monitor) and not 2 like JustKaraoke does, so it will work for casual events, but not the bar karaoke I did, where I can't see the singers monitor.

DEX 3 RE (Red Edition) .. DJ / Karaoke software for professional mobile DJ's and beginners | DEX 3 RE | PCDJ
Downloads: Technical Support And Help for DEX 3 RE. Download updates. | PCDJ

So now I officially have WAYYY too many DJ apps .. PCDJ, Traktor, Serato DJ, VDJ LE, and Mixxx.

I used PCDJ a few years back - it's a nice app. I would have no issues with using it now either.
Honestly, for what I do .. they are all basically the same. The full version of Serato DJ came with my MC6000v2 purchase. I had an older Serato Scratch Live (came with my Rane MP4), but never really used it. PCDJ was the 2nd app I used, but a novice would be hard pressed to see much of a difference between it, Traktor, Mixxx, Serato, VDJ etc. .. at least visually. There are differences of course for expert users, and one may pick a version based on the controller they have. In fact, the free Mixxx is pretty good .. though not as good with the controller integration and limited support.

I haven't used the full version of VDJ, though I have the light LE version and I used to use Numark Cue, which was basically VDJ. I want (or would like) a single app to do music and karaoke. While PCDJ DEX RE does it, it's limited and I would need to move to the full DEX or to VDJ to get a proper tool. So we'll see who has a special at DJExpo .. I always seem to part with money there.

I agree with you Steve-O. :)

I've used many of them too - and for many people, there is not a big difference between them.

Except for (God rest his soul) Ricky's RockIT!, which I also bought, and which he wouldn't integrate with iTunes .. causing me to abandon it. I kept trying to tell him .. EVERY other app integrates .. but he was too stubborn or maybe had a thing against Apple.

As Hank mentioned, I use notepad on my iPad. I also use a sticky notes program for Windows that keeps the notes on top of my DJ software.
