Yes… those units are gaining traction... but not as the main sparkler units. The batteries won't last the entire event in real life applications. If you're doing it just for first dance than having these units is fine. But if you're like me and shoot em up during the dancing portions, than having the wired ones are a must. The dj's using these are using them in conjuction with wired ones mostly. For example... they'll have the wired ones by the stage area, and then these portable ones opposite the main ones on the dancefloor, kind of like the photos you shared. They are a tripping hazard so I'm a little skeptical on them still especially if you have a photographer or videographer who like to move around a lot and not aware of their placement. Or if you have dancing on the clouds... they might not be visible to others in that moment. That's not to say I won't get somehting like this... I'm just waiting to see how venues receive this.

Sonic... the videos you see of sparklers catching things on fire are the real sparklers... while there is a heat element in the box, the sparks comes out cold to the touch (under 70 degrees). As far as upselling... I have them on about half of my events and made my money back and a lot more very easily. This year alone they generated over $10k in profit.

I only use them on 1st dance. And for sonic, yes, these things are VERY popular at my venue. During the sales pitch, I have a video running that starts with the cold sparks. Brides eyes always go wide when I talk about how to dip and get "The perfect 1st dance photo." @Taso, I'm interested in how you're using them thru the entire event. At an event back in April, I had a person (idiot) who was standing over the top of a unit as the 1st dance started. I had to hustle over and literally had to pull her away. How do you keep guests from getting caught in the stream? At least with 1st dance, and with my room setup, folks are generally out of the line of fire. As for the tripping hazard, mine get moved out of the way as soon as 1st dance is completed.

So for us, the dj booth is centered to the dancefloor and sparklers are usually by it... so naturally guests are not going to be in that area. Additionally, if it's a tight space and I see tables close by, I give them a heads up to keep a distance. Once you do them people become aware of them and likely will stay away from them once the party starts. They look cool during the first dance, but if you're paying extra for them, you definitely want to get your money's worth which is why we do it during the higher energy moments on the dancefloor.
