I have downloaded some music to my desktop computer. I have some music in Media Player and some music in ITunes. When i play the music back, I get eratic skips, maybe one or 2 during playback. It does not happen in the same place or on the same songs. Sometimes the song may skip to the pulsing of the computer when you see the light flashing on the front of the computer. I changed speakers, cd roms and nothing seems to work. Crazy problem that I can not figure out. Please help.

Not enough info to even offer insight.

1. What computer hardware are you using it's specs and age.

2. What other programs are running either in the foreground or backgroud and what processes are also running.

3. What is your music source for downloads / quality of the downloads.

You're going to have to say more about this than I downloaded music and it plays like crap...

I am using Windows XP, Windows media player. I have used cds that are in good shape to down load the music from. I used ITunes or Audiograbbers to down load them. The computer that I am using is about 3 years old and the cd rom is 1 yeard old.

Rick, I have had great success "ripping" all of my CDs using Windows Media Player. It sounds like you may require a more current mp3 codec (LAME MP3 Encoder). Make sure your version of XP is at least SP2 and that your CD drive firmware and drivers are up to date.

Keep us posted.

When was the last time you defragmented the hard drive? I'm guessing that the flashing light is the hard drive access display and your music is spread across the hard drive like and it takes too long to seek them.

As I have said to a few online over the years

if your still not sure on what to do
then go to your local computer store and get them to look at it and fix it for you...

not everyone can see 100% on what to do online

there could be something else you cant see thats wrong

The light on the front of your case means CPU usage. Sounds to me that somehow, you're overtaxing your processor, which shouldn't happen, playing mp3s.
