Some of us are just damn good at time management. :)

I also have created online planning tools that take care of alot of the details for me.

You have a full time job? How the hell do you find time for all this?
I ask because this time of year i do taxes and I'm scheduled 6 days..not all are 8, but still finding time to reply to emails and get a couple of photo jobs done means I"m working 16 hour days...and i don't like it. Feel like i'm shorting both jobs of my full attention and effort.

As of right now I have 33 booked personally another 10 for my other DJ's and probably 15 or so sitting on the fence. This is prime booking season in my area the last 10 days or so I've been receiving a couple of inquiries every day. Something I noticed this year is almost all my inquiries were by email or Facebook I think only 2 have been by phone

Most do not like sales pitches .... me personally as well .... frankly some people aren't very good word sales-people.

I have no problems contacting via email or a contact form. I can get the info I need, all in one place without having to write it all down if I was on the phone and then can process my gathered information at my pace. No pressure. It's also a great way to gauge a companies quickness to respond. If it's going to take days to return information I have no desire to do business with them.

for 20 years I worked a 60 hour a week full time job and played bars/clubs 4 nights a week and usually a private event or another bar gig on Saturdays lived on about 5 hours of sleep and a lot of caffeine

EH GADS!!! No wonder you're a wreck![emoji3]
There was a time when I was a workaholic... 12 hour work days were not unusual. Never took vacations... But I suddenly realized I was slowly killing myself and I was not really living. I had to decide if a 6 figure income was worth the sacrifice. I decided it was not. I still retain a strong work ethic... I just learned to channel it in other ways. [emoji4]

Luckily, I haven't had the need for other than the occasional 12-16hr day .. I like sleep too much.

I lived very similar for about 20 years too 60-80 sometimes 100 hours a week the odd bar gig and almost every Saturday. I took a slowdown after the heart attack in 2005 I did it for a few more years and managed to put myself in a position to be able to work less. I still do 40+ in an average week and 50+ gigs a year seems pretty easy lol

Gotta crow for a sec. I just booked our 3rd gig in the past 3 days. 2 of them photog-only (including a corporate ad shoot, happening today) and 1 of them that is photog+DJ+Uplighting+Photobooth. That puts us at 12 photography gigs for the year, excluding the 1/29 gig that I was whining we can't get the deposit and contract signed (probably ain't happening). I've had a goal of 15 photo gigs this year. Looks like we'll blow through that by the end of January. I'm guessing now we could see 25-30 photo gigs, and the DJ-based gigs are still coming in as well. It's going to be a very interesting year.

Start expanding this way and I'll take on 2nd/3rd shooter duties.

I had 3 inquires yesterday, and already have had 2 for today. One was for a Same Sex Marriage way out in Garret County, MD. I told her we would need at minimum $1,250+ a hotel room for the night to go way out there. It's over a 150 mile drive. I don't think she will bother booking.

Had another inquiry for a fund raiser event today for a March event. If it's an open date, and only 3 to 4 hours I will probably quote my $325 - $350 fund raiser/charity charge and assign whoever is open to it (If he books). ...Probably myself as I am open most dates in March right now.

THe charity gig turns out to be in May, not March. They don't have a date set yet. I think they are looking for a $200 DJ. I quoted $500 if they choose to have it on a Friday or Sunday...I said I'd pass if it's on a Saturday...I reserve those days for weddings or mitzvahs in a busy month like May.

Landed another booking this evening. Very strange turn of events. The couple had gone to the Pink Bride show, this past Sunday, and tried to book a photographer. Everyone had their date (9-24-16) already taken. She spoke to a friend of hers, whom I'd just pitched (unsuccessfully) a month ago. Even though the friend booked someone else, she still recommended my packages to her friend. Photog+DJ+Uplighting, $2.5k. Deposit cleared this evening. That's 4 this week with 3 of them north of $2k each.

Strange how these things happen sometimes. I had one last year I pitched and she went with someone else solely on price but she's been referring me ever since even before her wedding (which in her words was a "mess" from a DJ standpoint). I think I seen her more last summer than I seen my wife lol

The way I am reading it, you have 39 total sound gigs for 2016 so far? How many DJ bookings do you have outside of that?
