I couldn't agree more which is why I settled on EVs (everyone has their preference) - Unfortunately, even the odd Rolls Royce breaks down. Tis the law of entropy in the physical world. I haven't been so lucky with blown speakers but can safely say it has been less than a handful in number despite a few phases of hard experimentation thrown in the mix. My most expensive pair was a set of Quad ESL-63 Elecrostats (High End Home Speakers in our Sound Room at the PX audio shop I worked in overseas) with a Carver M1.5t - arced the hell out of them when I was young and foolish. The good thing is Quad UK made good on fixing them since we sold boatloads for them ( we left the part about using a massive high powered solid state amp - But Bob Carver did say the t mod sounded exactly the same as a Mark Levinson ML-2 tube amp Doh!). A couple of my first gigs circa 1977

Here is how it actually looks in practice (go to 2 minutes 38 seconds in the video for a description):

Are those the b1200d
If they are how long have you had them?
And how do they sound with those EV are they making them sound fuller?
Why didn't you go all Behringer

Simple answer - because I was being cheap on the bottom end. Never be cheap on the mid or high range tops though. Bass is bass IMHO and most places round here always ask me to tone down the bottom end anyway these days (wimps!) - The bass is also quite omnidirectional and all you need to do is put it out there and make it thump on their chests (that is where the GoRack works great with EQ and Sub Synth). They actually do sound very good for the little things they are (I also have the bigger brother B1500D Pro which I blew and put in a much better eminence driver and it really punches awesome now - way better than the original tin can driver - you will see in the vid). I used to have Yorkville 18's but they are just stupid large and I ain't getting younger plus space is an issue. When I hand all this gear over to my son in the next year or so (he understudies me right now - just turned 21 for side bucks), he can go out and get the big guns again if he so chooses. The main reason I got them was I was looking to augment my EV ELX112P tops to take the load off them as a full range speakers in mid sized venues. At the price point they sell them for I thought "What the heck, why not give one a whirl?" So I did - I bought only one first as per the vids below and was moderately impressed so I got another and paired them up - stacked they are quite impressive. I had Behringer tops for a very short while - they were absolute garbage so I dumped them for EVs. I am not a real big gear snob either as I do have a Behring DEQ2496 that works pretty good as well. Before that I had old school 18 inch based full range pair of Cerwin Vegas that made people with weak bowels mess themselves when cranked but even with wheels they were too large to cart around. I am also very much trying to maintain a system that all fits nicely in my crew cab pickup complete with video system so I can't really go bigger anymore. My philosophy on the 1200 Behrys was if I ever frapped them (and I thought I likely would given my experience with the 1500) I could then put better drivers in them and get a better sub for a modest price like I did with their bigger brother. Very easy to do. Never had to do that so far and I abuse the heck out of them sometimes - especially with the young (uck) Hip-Hop Crowd. Been using them for over a year now and they are tough little puppies!

I actually saw the video with you testing the b1200d but you didn't do a follow up with real gigs

My follow up review I guess would have to be the many giglogs I posted using them on my Youtube channel. I have a bunch of vids posted on my web site but need to update it soon since the last vids I posted there were a few of last year's Christmas parties. This year I haven't done as many videos as last year since I did a lot of the same venues with the same equipment (so nothing really new to make it worthwhile) and because it takes a lot of work to edit and post them when I have to turn around and do another gig soon after. I have recently started only doing videos of new venues I haven't done before (to show prospective clients) and some of the ones I did this year are not good enough to post there because of sound problems (a few I left the waterproof GoPro case on after boat trips I did causing the sound to be badly muffled) and the fact I am now running into problems with YouTubes crackdown on copyright infringement as an added bonus. I get copyright hits on quite a few of my giglog videos with music playing in the background that cause them to remove sound so it has become more bothersome than worthwhile lately. I usually just remove the vids when they do that.
My Youtube channel has several gigs from this summer's wedding season using them if you check it out...

I picked one up as a mic pre-amp into one of my my MC6000 line inputs since the mic stage on this Denon is naff.
