Many of us use our real names. Someone searching your name can possibly bring up a post. Watch what you say.

Thanks for the reminder. It is easy to forget that everything we say on bulletin boards, etc is out there in the public eye... Like Scott says, it is much better to keep it "real" and "friendly!"

Yep, posts from most of the BBS are indexed on many of the search engines, including the rest of the "Big Three" SE... Yahoo and MSN.

Yep, were open to the public the only comments which cannot be "Googled" is those made in the pub.

The positive of this is that if you put your website in your signature, the search engine spiders will be adding up the link popularity for your site...

Couldn't hurt your position....

'Tis true...

Remember awhile back when I posted our "retirement" message on the various forums?

Well it wasn't long afterward that I heard from an old client back home. Used to do their NYE shows before I moved here. Anyhoo, she was saddened to hear that I was retiring.

I was amazed that she was aware of it. There's no mention of it on our company website and I didn't email anyone. The only way they could have found out was from my posts on the bbs forums.

True but that's a double edged sword. If we set boards so only registered members can see it search bots won't be able to spider. If the search bots cannot spider ODJT will die a slow, lonely death.
