ummmm, lesbian.

So, if someone uses the "N" word, but uses it with no malice, that makes it OK?
Two different things. You still did not answer my question. A lesbian is a female that likes other females. A Butch or Dyke is the male counterpart of a a lesbian couple. So maybe we can go with "Butch".

Wrong. It is not two different things. Lesbian women do not like to be called dykes. There is no "male counterpart" in a lesbian couple. They are both women, that is the reason they are "lesbians".

Then explain to me why one goes out of their way to dress like a man and act the man role. Let me inform you I have lots of Lesbian and Gay Friends. The Butch's act the man/male part.

the reality is you can twist the bible to mean whatever you want it I mean

Scott, I am not a Christian -- I just believe in what I believe. I'm a Deist/Atheist. of some sort.

I just know what I like, and don't like.

To change the subject slightly, how does a Civil Union (Gay couple) differ from that of a "traditional" Christian wedding? Anyone getting solicited by Rainbow Wedding Network?

BTW, if this should be a separate thread, by all means please change.

Civil Union is a Man Made Arrangement. Marriage is something sanctioned/Created by God/Religion/The Bible. When Marriage was first derived by God (That is why he made Eve), back in those days it was taken very seriously. You could be stoned to death for committing adultery. Man and Government stepped in and started changing the Laws and this is what we have today. People are getting divorced for all kinds of reasons. What about the vows taken that said ..."for better or for worse.."?

Canute, I underestand the "history" but I was referring to the actual Civil Union vs. Wedding Reception. My bad. Neglected to indicate same. But...is there a varying difference in total time of the actual ceremonies?

Perhaps, since I have never done a Civil Union Reception, somebody will chime in as to the elements of each Program.

A Ceremony can be as elaborate as one wants whether traditional or the manufactured kind. The more elaborate the longer the time. The Civil Union is just the "Type".

Let me inform you that I also have lots of gay and lesbian friends. Not all lesbian couples have one that "goes out of her way to dress like a man", just like not all gay couples have one that dresses or acts like a girl.

In my part of the country, calling a lesbian a "dyke" or a gay guy a "faggot" is the same as calling a black person a "ni66a".

I have done several. They are done 95% the same way. The only noticable difference is the homosexual couples.

You are correct. In your part of the Country you may call someone a Dyke, Faggot or Nigga and live to tell about it. Here in Houston you may call someone a Dyke or Faggot and maybe get away with your tires slashed. Calling someone a Nigga down here is a sure fired way to get a "Voyage out of this world" ;)

Stop trying to put some lame a$$ texas twist on it and read my post again. I said it "is the same as", meaning just as bad.

Funny how how you admit that the term is derogative in your post above but will still use the term. What is good for the goose is good for the gander.

Let's be honest, how many singers are gay? A ton of them yet we play their stuff. Now some may not agree with same sex marriage and they have a right to do so. The same way people have approached gay marriage. I'm not judging and people can do whatever they want but, if someone has a problem with this type of event, they have a right to refuse to do it and not be railroaded by an organization.

We as individuals have rights and sometimes we need to make choice it can be good or bad according to others but you have the right to make the choice you want. The same goes for getting pregnant, buying a house, a car, etc. you choose what you want not what everyone else says.

Marriage may be condoned, and has certainly been shaped by religion, but it was not created by them or the Bible. If you read history, early marriage was more a business relation or a mechanism to put a lock on fertile (and therefore coveted) women. It wasn't for love or religion. That came later.

My friend, when God made Eve he united them as one. Don't try preaching Theology to me I have a Diploma in Bible Knowledge from the University of Cambridge in London. It was one of my pet subjects in school. Have you ever read in the Bible "What God has put together let no man put asunder!" Where do you think that came from?

if you provide a public service then you have to provide that service to everyone regardless of race, creed, etc etc
if you dont like it, then dont advertise to the general 'public'... IE: dont have a "public" business..

Damn, yer a Bible scholar, fine art dealer, DJ, sound reinforcement specialist, and so on...

Heck, you can even grow tomatoes upside down, and cook them in waterless cookware.

Do your jammies consist of a cape, with a big S on your shirt...?

The bible wasn't written until long after non-religious marriages happened. And as far as I remember from my CCD days, Adam and Eve was an allegorical account, not a case study. And I don't believe he said "and that act shall be called marriage".

a local ice cream parlor was picketed some years ago because the owner refused to serve black people, even though he opened his shop in a predominately black area. he finally decided to go out of business when he realized that even many whites thought that he was in the wrong. he thought that he'd be able to pit the races against each other. businesses with restrictions like his were replaced by shops that catered to everyone. God smiled and everyone was happy. :)

I believe you are being PC again Steve...

Not that I really give a hoot, but the Bible clearly states that marriage is between a man and a woman.

How are two dudes sucking each other's winkies, gonna conceive a child...?

You can't have it both ways.
