With the present heat wave around the country...Temperature is in the upper 90's in Wash DC today and feel like 115 degree outside...the Thermometer in my garage read 112 degree and makes me wonder if I'm damaging my powered speakers slowly by storing them in the garage with NO windows or any form of ventilation.

Where do You store your equipment in the summer time???

Your speakers were probably shipped from some other country in the world, in a container -- it may have taken weeks to get here. In the summer, those containers reach close to 200 degrees, in the winter, well below zero.

As long as they are not turned on -- I doubt they really care, and I would defer to Paul about giving them a dish of water... :)

i will run the heat test tomorrow, should be playing from 12 noon to approx 4 or 4:30am in the heat all day and night cranked up full.

Just leave them a small dish of water they will be fine.

Paul

that is funny right there
I was thinking the same thing, only mine had to do with getting caught by the
Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Speakers

Mine are from Michigan (EV) and North Carolina (Danley), USA but I get your point. I leave mine in my air conditioned basement. I've got some Tapco THumps (China)... those stay in the garage.

My Peavey speakers, have spent many summers and winter in the garage -- no heat, no AC.

When I moved to Florida, they stayed in the garage here -- well below zero during the winter, and well above 100 during the summer. Humidity like you wouldn't believe next to the river.

They're currently holding up a couple thousand pounds, in use as storage space risers. They've never molded, because I never covered them. They sound great (but they don't look that good any more) :)

I have 5 amps upstairs -- it was 107 the other day -- they don't seem to care. Turn them on, they work.

Mice, on the other hand, can be a problem -- get a cat or two... ;) :)

Humidity has an effect. I was asked by a bride if I had a dvd player to run a slide show...I bought one 2 years ago, its been in a case all the time, in the garage. Opened up the remote to pop in batterries; the contacts were all corroded....So humidity does have an effect. With doors closed and no windows open, I suppose that makes it worse....

I have kept ALL of my gear in my "un-heated" and "un-cooled" garage since I moved there.
Haven't had an issue yet
I still use the first speakers I ever bought
(JBL TR-125's that I bought over 20 years ago)
they still sound great.
of course, they are NOT powered, so perhaps my point is not valid.
