My issue with this one is that Denon is a well respected brand and Alto is more of the bargain basement entry level stuffThey've changed them over the years now, but I remember when the only difference between the Chevy Tahoe and the GMC Yukon was the badge... lots of companies do stuff like this.
In retail especially, it's a game of shelf space. If you can convince a retailer to carry two of your brands (even if it's the same product), you edge out shelf space that a competitor could have had.
