FRAUD!

At what point is it Fraud? 1-2-500-1600-5000-60000?

In the search of advertisers, sponsors, participants or warm bodies, you will find individuals padding numbers to schmooze, WOW and entice the parting of the hard earned money of vendors or participants - At what point is one held accountable?

Do you just ignore this individuals or call them out for what they are?

With Wedding magazines and Yellow page representatives leading the pack how do you audit the figures and fraudulent claims they make?

Jam, you're asking...DJs??

I think it would be AWESOME to pass a contigency law for advertising.

You pay contigent on the response you receive.

Then again...

Jam, you know this drives me nuts, bro. If you know someone is being fradulent and they won't back it up, call 'em out. :)
What happens as soon as you call-someone out they turn you into the BAD guy.

Its called "Respond.com" .....you only pay when they deliver a real prospect to your door, with a phone number and e-mail addy, MATCHED to the budget requirements of the vendor. (There is a $99 annual fee to participate)

CitySearch is testing a new program called "Pay Per Call" which only charges you when an actual customer calls the special number (linked to your phone).

Both programs are expensive, at around $4 to $5 per delivered lead, but when you compare the cost to BF or YP, its still very cost efficient.

i don't rely on what media tell me they will deliver. I try different things and tell them what they delivered. Being able to track leads is vital to my business.

Like anything else, ASK for references. Call these references and ask pointed questions.

Just recently, i had an online guy call me, telling me about the great things they have...i said i'll try it on a month to month basis...he said they only offer yearly packages....i said i would need to talk to some references.....he said due to privacy reasons he couldn't give out names of clients.....i said i understand...and goodbye.

The most accurate way to check advertising is to put different numbers in different campaigns and get a printed list of number of calls. With my big yellow book ad, i have a special number that gives me a online report of number of calls.....and the names and number of each call...including hang ups..VM or busy. it's $15 a month....but well worth the valuable info.
