No problem James hope it helps

My oh my - I managed to get through a thread without someone taking a pot shot :)

Thanks Greg.

There are many other ways of getting a boost with Google

I would say add a YouTube video to your blogs and place it on a separate page and also add it to your Places page.

Eyeing is buying and all that good stuff plus the video could well get you a nice visual on page one.

I would pay someone to do a reasonably nice video too and not one of flashing lights, banging music and people do the ymca - you may get someone see it who hates all of it.

I would film brides and grooms entrance and your introductions + ask the B+G how much they enjoyed their day (assuming they enjoyed it)

So many ways oh and no tricks involved !

I wish oh how I wish I had gone multi in the San Francisco Bay Area now - no bragging intended but I would have been the busiest operator there

I don't think you ever got one of those from me Davy.

Well for some reason my Maps info got deleted, and my place went into pending, I deleted the Places file per the "Tag Sales People" and redid it a couple of times and always goes into pending.

I'm using a physical address, etc... I can't get them to link together (now I can't even more since my Maps got deleted somehow, and I had reviews there dating from 2003).

Not sure what to do, and there's no real CS at Google.
I've read all the policy of Places, etc... and followed them to the letter.

Thanks in advanced.

Going into pending is OK all my client sites did do that but somehow I think Google trust me now.

Pending is OK and may take a day or two. Just don't lose those cool reviews you have.

I noticed some pulled from Judy's Book too ( I forecast that two + years ago) I still rank in the Charlotte Area through Yelp and Judy's Book

If I were you and had a GMail address I would pay for more storage and get your credit card associated with your business address and 'phone number it really does help - OK you may not need the extra storage BUT for the piddling amount of $$$ it is worth it.

Just keep it honest David and don't lose those way cool reviews as they pre-sell you

....David are you using Twitter? Facebook Group?

http://www.twitter.com/googdevon or look me up on FB David Saunders Plymouth

Thanks Davy as always.

I'm using facebook (personal and fan page) no group
Twitter I have an account but never really caught on to it.

I do have a question about the Map being deleted, all the reviews that were added/posted to google were in that Map profile that was deleted.
I know this is beyond asking but in your experience do those stick back to the Place profile? not sure if the question makes sense.

Will be following your advise on the gmail account, which I do have one already.
Thanks again Davy.

Thumbs UP

Big Ups to my main man Jeff Romard for really taking the time to help me out!!!

Jeff, I think that I sent this reply to you via PM, but I will post it here as well.

Wavy Davy, please check out my site and provide a little feedback, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks to ALL!!! I have REALLY enjoyed being a member of this forum. I keep my eyes GLUED to my iphone at work...

Now that I have made some of my own changes to my site to the best of my ability. I am prepared to seek criticism of it.

I will eventually get to learning and creating a WP site, but for now my current site will have to do as I don't have the time or financial resources to pay someone else to recreate it.

Some things that I would already like to change about my current site:

1. Widen the page
2. Delete the "flash" intro and make the logo and the navi bar static
3. Make the site compatible with ALL browsers and not just IE
4. Add social networking linked logos (I already have the logos I like)
5. Add a WP Blog
6. Add a Lightbox gallery to the Wedding, Parties & Schools pages and/or to the Gallery page.
7. May replace YouTube embedded channel on home page with Lighting Photos via JavaScript or whatever is needed for them to change automatically.
8. In a couple of weeks I will get a premium account with Vimeo and replace all YouTube videos in the current locations on the site.
9. I have all of my newer videos in HD, just not uploaded to YouTube.
10. Eventually add an "About Us" page.

Misc, I would like to actually take the navi bar and incorporate it into the thin red bar that separates the banner and the bottom of the page. Of course it would have to be a lot thicker to accommodate the buttons.

Well I was reading through this thread and just want to say that google places is a good thing to setup, along with a full google profile and other networks as well.

...but the reason I replied and I'd like to offer some suggestions to "DJMAGNO" about his website, if you're interested than shoot me a PM and we'll go from there.

cheers

Hey Mango, I agree with David on this one. Get a CMS asap!!! IMO, that should be your primary focus for the website. You can also use 301 redirects in .htaccess to keep your link juice. If you're worried about a lapse in traffic, it is normal. I originally had a website that talked about weddings/parties/uplighting. I decided to branch them off into 3 separate websites. For the first month or so, traffic was pathetic... However a year later I am wondering why we didn't make the switch sooner.

You can really do some amazing things with a CMS website...
