Hello folks!

I am returning to ODJT for some advice. Over the last couple months I have had the itch bad to get back into some mobile work (part time). I have been asked my some local bars and others to do some DJ work. I need to start small and want to know if any of you have any feedback on the below listed equipment or can provide some other things to look at.

(Get a Laptop as well)

Thanks
Al

Welcome back Al!!!

Thank you. Also if anyone has any starter packs (backup systems) that are no longer in use please let me PM me. Cheers to all. Glad to be back!

I have been leaning towards the Numark iCDMIX3 CD / Mixer Combo, that is what you are talking about, correct?

Thanks Cesar, I found a couple used up for grabs, one is only a few months old and low hours, the other I am going to get more info on tomorrow. I will most likely buy one of these units tomorrow to start generating a cash flow. Now just need a good set of used POWERED speakers.

Check out the Traktor S2 or S4. My cousin sent me a vid last night with his setup hooked to the machine. OMG I want one sooo bad! He also has the spin as a backup which he says is really good. Not expensive either. Works with DJay software. Though none can play cd's... if that is what you are looking for. I say just upload them to your laptop :) less stuff to carry too

I got me Denon DN MC 6000 controller from KPODJ for an even $600.00 and haven't looked back since.

Al - I haven't really done any research on the item so use my advice with a grain of salt. If you do get one let me know what you think of the unit.

Picked up the Numark Mixdeck. I will be testing is at home for some time as I do not have any gigs setup. I will post my reviews later.

EK good to see you again!

Well...do you have to be CD based? My dream rig is a VCI-400 controller. Really sweet unit.

Other than that I guess a mixdeck would be a nice entry level all in one for you too. I like Numark although most find them to be average.

Right now I use their older USB Numark mixers that have 2 usb soundcards built in so I have a real cross fader to mix between decks on my software. But I do all my beatmatching with a mouse. I don't consider myself a true DJ for that reason. I like tactile surfaces but I'm holding off on a dedicated MIDI controller until I get my lighting purchases under control. The devil himself has turned me on to X-Laser.

OMG me too! I want that thing (VCI-400) SO BAD!

I don't need the golden edition tho. Stock will suit me fine.

Thanks for sharing, just checked it out and it looks pretty sick!

Hey JT!!

For now, yes, I am CD based. The one thing I really enjoy about he mixdeck is that it is very versatile. CD, MP3 CD, MP3s from a thumb drive, HDD, or even a controller for a Lappy!
