Just checked out traktor scratch pro v1.0.1 and I fell in love with it instantly! Wonderful output and excellent FX..and seamless loops too. Well there is one major problem and that is I dont know how to get it working with my Hercules MK2 !! If anyone could pls tell me about any mapper that is available or ways in which i could map it.. Would be very very helpful!! Pls consider this is a desperate plea and help me out folks! Thanks! :D

Shaun, post this at herculesdjmixroom.com also. That would be the forum that I think has the most knowledge about all things Hercules.

If I had gotten around to installing Traktor and configuring it, I would know more, but I haven't, so I don't. Sorry Shaun.

Contact Traktor!

Thats okay steve! :D I understand..well i found out that the Traktor Pro has mappers for various controllers in built inside..and i've loaded em up..but i gotta figure out how i make em work.Maybe a little fiddling around would help.
For those who dont know, here it is -
Open Traktor -> Goto Configuration/Preferences -> Click 'Import' (which is in the far bottom left) -> Open folder 'Midi Mapping' -> Select the Controller that you wish to map -> And its loaded.

Now how you put this to function is totally under question..cos i gotta figure it out. Once i do..i will post it up here! :)

Man! It's so much easier in VDJ.... just pick the controller and activate it.... plus they have a mapping utility for other midi devices. I have the Total Control and all I had to do was pick it from picture list of controllers and activate, done.

Yes truly!! And i thought it'd be the same scenario here. But looks like there is something i'm missin out. Well i've been a VDJ fanatic for years and years now. Its only outta curiosity that I wanted to check out traktor and I was bowled over by the various options available in it and the wonderful no-nonsense effects. Of course It will take me quite a while to get used to it..but trust me its ahead of VDJ in many aspects! :)

Exactly! It's like ordering drunk at Denny's at 3 a.m., pointing at the menu...

so I've heard.

I GOT IT!!! HURRAY!!! Just a little config setting i missed out and now its workin perfectly! Gosh its wonderful!!!

Once you open traktor select the Audio output as ' hercules mk2 asio' and in midi settings ' click on both the tabs to make it active and import the midi mapping as I said earlier..and it works without a glitch. Including those jog wheels which scratch beautifully! :D

way to go "Das Gruvin Maestro" cant wait to hear your next run of mixes with this new toy. Did you put any new mixes on your site yet? Folks if ya havent heard some of Shauns stuff go to his site you will be blown away. Im anxious to hear one of his mix sets from club night.

Shaun:

May I get help from you on Traktor, somewhere down the road?

Thank you JT first of all for the wonderful support and 'promotion' :) but i dont think i'm as worthy as you mention, just carrying out my passion in a disorderly manner lols! But truly all of you here are like the biggest support i have till date! Well regarding my remixes, am workin on a project and it'd be in my site soon. Will let you all know bout it asap :)

Surely steve...if I reach that level though! ;) I'll surely share the info with ya. Dont worry steve! .. u can count on me n e time!

I have finally got my mk2 to work with Traktor and the mapping possiblities are numerous to tell the fact! Well I thought maybe I could share it with the forum..so that some one else is able to save his/her time and energy.
This is for anyone who wants to use the Hercules MK2 with Traktor Scratch Pro
Pic 1 - Is the Audio output setting u have to configure first. Select it from the dropdown box

Pic 2 - Make sure you get the 'X' mark against both the inputs and outputs

Pic 3 - To load the MK2 mapper . Click the 'Import' button on the far bottom left of the screen. And soon you'll see this box

Pic 4 - Go ahead into the folder ' Midi mappings'

Pic 5 - Select your desired controller folder and load the .tsi file

Pic 6 - This is just a basic 'Alphabet' reference based on the old mapper which i dug out from a site.. and using this you could change the mapping or customise it to suit your needs.

Hope this was helpful in some way folks! Cheers! :)

mk2 re-map for traktor pro

Hi

I know this thread is quite old, but it was one I came across when first setting up my mk2 to work with Traktor pro. So thanks in the first instance for your help on that.

Like you I came from virtual DJ, and now think TP is awesome. One of the reason for not switching to traktor in the past when I looked at the software (v3 i think) was that i couldn't control enough of it with my mk2. Of course the same is kinda true with TP, but the TSI that NI included with the software was pretty good.

I've since gone on to mod-my-map over and over, and now have something I like working with. As with any map it's gonna represent the mixing preferences of just one person, but I thought I'd past up a JPG of what my humble mk2 now looks like, to show other mk2 owners that midi-modifiers in TP can give you immense extended functionality..... so I can control a lot of features on ALL 4 decks.

To accomplish this I surrendered the use of my cue buttons....believe it or not i don't use these much and if i ever want to i can either use the mouse or a keyboard mapping. instead i made these my main modifiers as they're easy to touch. i also use 4 eq bands (xone layout) and map 2 bands to a rotary knob, freeing up my 3rd knob for use as a filter.

with the eq's, the low knob controls low and also cuts a little midlo. the high controls high and cuts a little midhi. then i used my blue modifier button (normally the right-sync) with the jog-wheel to pull midlo & midhi up/down without affecting the lo/hi. so in a roundabout way i have 4 band eq and filter for 4 decks! (boy would it be nice to have a 1D).

hope you enjoy the pic, and the tsi is there if you want to see how i did it, feel free to ask any questions :D

Hi esba,

First, I believe that if mk2 is not used as a soundcard, then u will not be able to use the headphones. Only if mk2 is recognised as a soundcard will the headphones be recognised..if not u will have to have a USB sound card or a dual soundcard to consider one as the master output and the other as the cue output.
But I still dont understand how mk2 could be used only as a controller!! Then there'd be no difference between the mk2 and the hercules mp3. I would definitely suggest you to use mk2 as a soundcard for better performance! :) All the best
Regards,
Shaun
