I do. I just bought a 6000 watt campbell hausfeld. 7200 watt peak. I just need 2 - 20 amp breakers. I figure my generator gives me 2.
We can run off of 50A of 220V IF we pull 4 dimmers off to 2 separate 110V circuits. We don't have much trouble making power available in gyms; it's usually there already. If not, most are happy to have it installed. On rare occasion we have to tie into a panel, but again, rare. We never haul a generator as we have no way to tote along such a massive beast! A generator of sufficient size would require another trailer just for power, and in most cases, we would be hard pressed to get it close enough to the setup location with a good ground installed.
If we had to find individual 20A circuits, we would be at 20 or 22 dedicated circuits; can't remember for sure. By carrying a distro, we just need to find power somewhere within 200 or 250 feet of where we set up. Again, usually not a problem, and one easily addressed in advance with our tech sheet.
I just have to ask this question...how much did u charge that school for such an extravagant set up like that!?!?!?
That system is averaging about $3000 right now; the Chicagoland schools are on the higher end of that and closer events just under.
