In Florida if you are a resident, you obtain your license through the Clerk of Court and then there is a "three day cooling of period" or you have to pay an extra fee to be married earlier.

Non-residents can get their license in person at any county court house or by mail. Non-residents do not have a waiting period - they can be married as soon as their marriage license is issued.

Blood tests are not required for anyone.
You can also be married by a notary here. Pretty easy, I don't know if as easy as Vegas but close.

How difficult is it in your state?

In British Columbia you can live together for X amount of time and become Common law then recieve married benefits even if its a Gay union.

I think NY requires that you apply for the marraige license in person, then have a 24 hour waiting period. Then you have either 60 or 90 days to have the marraige consumated by a priest, or legal ceremony.

No more blood tests here either.

LOL!!

All of it! Been there, done that...did it again!! You'd think I'd learn my lesson!

Hahahah, feels good not to feel alone, we're in the same boat!! LOL

On a different note, did you know they change the name of clubMiami to cluBhavana? I went there, the place looks nicer and more spacious, but the dj's they had couldn't make up their mind on the music format jumping all over the place... Many people were leaving... I was already in, so I had to suck it up.
I've been so out of the scene for so long, I was looking for a nice club -low stress- club, just to groove for a while as patron. (finish my gig early yesterday, xmas party).
Do you know of any mainstream clubs in the San Jose area? I dj'd a clubMax before, but it's more of a meatmarket, than anything. What used to be paradisebeach is too "hiphy" for me... I drove around Santa Clara & San Pedro but I couldn't find a mellow place, with great musica and classy athmosphere, maybe you know..

It depends on what she looks like. :sqerr:

I've been married for almost 10 years, but when we got married here in Michigan there was no blood test and I think it took a couple of days to get the license.

i got tricked into marrying my wife before i found out she was a Michigan fan. I believe she should of disclosed that to me since i am a OHIO STATE fan.:sqmad:
What makes it more difficult to accept is that besides being a MICHIGAN fan, she is perfect.:sqwink:

so i believe you can do away with the blood tests....and just watch plenty of football to find out what they are really like!

Delaware is different (big surprise... DE does everything differently).

The licence to fight.. err marry :D is issued by Family Court if I'm not mistaken. Any Justice of the Peace or Notary Public may perform the ceremony. Blood tests are extinct... they haven't been required in many years.

There's no waiting period as I understand. When my buddy Frank and his galfriend got married, they got the licence on a Friday and were married the same day by a JOP. We've worked several informal wedding ceremonies... the B&G get married in their back yards, at Silver Lake or at one of the country clubs. It happens a lot.

I believe common law applies here. DE isn't a commonwealth like VA and PA but it is recognized.

Huggs, Sue.

That line was borrowed from an old Hank Williams tune.

"If the wife and I are fightin', brother that's allright. 'Cause me and that woman bought a licence to fight." :D

I was married for 16 long years to an abusive, vicious woman. She finally found someone she liked better and granted me my walking papers. I had to pay for it all... lost the house and all but what price freedom, eh? I grabbed my shirt and ran like hell. :)

Have done music and sound for many a wedding and reception party over the years since. I wish 'em all the best... but in the back of my mind I always think "Better them than me."

Freedom is a precious thing. It should never be taken for granted. This old dog is free and will remain so. I learned my lesson the first time around. That's a mistake I'll never make again. :D

When my time comes I may leave this world as a lonely old man. But I shall not die in shackles and chains. :)

I love weddings done it 5 times!

The hardest one was when I married my sister, I don't understand it no one seemed to approve of that one.

Here in PA you both go to the couthouse and answer some questions. You can then get married in 24 hours. The person marrieng yuou signs the certificate and mails it in. You are then married. It takes a few weeks to get the official documents back.

Divorce takes some time. Once both parties are served. They have 90 days to contest. after the 90 days there is a 90 day grace period. So if everything goes well, one can be divorced in PA in 6 months.

Now my 2nd I got marrien in Vegas. Nuff said.

My second divorce...this is going to take forever. I can see a year to 18 months easy.

Lesson learned....I hope to find a nice woman to live with, other than that maybe if we last 10 years I consider getting married.
