I just ordered some new speakers.

The speaker is very capable… like I said I have four original k12’s that I utilize at least one of at every event. They’re rock solid. The k12.2 are a little louder but the trade off is their reliability. I hope you have no issues at all.

GET CASES!

If not willing to invest in qsc branddd ($100 each) at least get these which are 2 for under $100. I used them and they do the job.

Thanks sir.

$1,919. I think you're talking about the QSC CP series.

Nope the CP's are around $950/speaker for the 12 inch up here the K12 are $1549 per speaker

K12.2's have had problems - they shut down without warning, going into Protect Mode prematurely. Personally, I'd avoid these.

I believe I read it was a firmware problem and they fixed it. I could be corrected on this though. EV had a similar problem with one of their models a few years ago

So I have a simple question. What are your thoughts anybody on the QSC K12.2 speakers?

It’s nothing to do with user error. It’s faults in the firmware. The original k12’s are more basic in their function, which as a result has fewer issues. The k12.2 are more capable with additional features, but it’s also created more issues as a result.

My want to return the speakers Mix. You have plenty of issues already. What are you doing for stands??

Let me say I saw a video on those speakers. Actually several. One thing I love is the power cord locks on to the speaker. That's great! The reviews were great.

They're good speakers with some really handy features. Your purchase (if new) is far enough into the production that whatever issues existed are likely resolved. (A good reminder that it's not always best practice to be the first to jump when a new product is developed unless you can afford to be the test pilot and have good support.)

You may however, have over-purchased for your needs. Yes, a 12" driver will give you good sound without subs, but I don't think you had to spend $1,000 per speaker to get a solid sounding 12" active woofer. There are other similar models that would have done a great job for about 1/3 the cost. A lot of the expense is for a discrete DSP that you don't really need because your only program material is prerecorded music. The cabinets are touring grade that greatly exceeds the kind of exposure they will experience in your personal handling, and includes flying points that you will never use.

The entire Kx and Kx.2 lines are ideal for rental and production houses where the job parameters are different every time they go out. The DSP provides short cuts that help reduce the amount and expense of other equipment necessary to achieve a given result. Delay speakers in film/theater, or presentation is such an example. Delay can be set at the speaker along a single line feed, eliminating the need for additional routing, cabling, or even a console.

Your DJ use is consistent and straight forward (literally) just two speakers playing a studio recorded stereo (or mono) source. That's generaly going to sound great on any speaker - including some really good ones in the $300 range (just 1/3 of your current expenditure.)

For $2,000 I would prefer to have seen you acquire 2 active speakers, with stands, cables, covers, and a reliable controller. I think that's something tha was easily attainable. If it were me, and I could return both the controller and these speakers - I would do it, and use the same money to get fully equipped with reliable and application appropriate gear.

K12.2’s have had past issues. Good
Luck with your purchase.
I remember Mackie SRM 450 speakers had heat sink issues in one of their models. The speaker would get too hot and shut off. You had to wait till it cooled down and turn it back on. They figured out the problem and corrected the problem. These are a version that have been around for some years. As Bob said it's not always a good idea to rush and buy a product until it's been out a while to find out if it's worth buying or not.

Buy first then ask for input? Unless you have a very knowledge salesperson I would think it would be better to ask for input discuss then purchase. It took me months to select my new speakers even after going to a couple of speakers shootouts and hearing 30+ different speakers.

The thing about free advice - is people are free not to take it.
The problem is us . . if we are upset when someone fails to match up with our prescription.

When I first came back my first amp was QSC 2450 which I had and used for 24 years. QSC makes some really great gear. I know this because one of my friends who's been a DJ is super long time has 8 of those speakers and told me I would be very happy with the product.

I was supposed to have jury duty starting yesterday but got excused till 3 years from now. It said the speaker are to be delivered today. So I will be home all day till they get here and after a meeting tonight I will visit my GF and spend the night. I will do a small test in the apartment to see how they sound. I will just hookup one and test it out. I really don't have to because I know they sound great.

I checked reviews online and plenty of DJs highly recommended those speakers and have been using them for years.

Mixxy, Eight of the speakers & be couldn't
Loan you one for a gig? Wow, what a friend!
I never considered asking him. I'm that kind of guy. My plan after getting the speakers is to get some crank stands so that way you only have to lift the speakers so high and use the crank to lift the speakers higher and then get bags at the same time. Later get another facade.

Crank stands will be nice. For now just get stands & bags. What cranks are you checking out Mixxy?
Always bought bags with every speaker & been more than pleased with nice looking /clean cabinets. Also will hold resale value.
