I think you're setting yourself up for problems.
Instead of taking cues from ONE person, the person show signed the contract,
you are depending on the whims of a whole bunch of individuals.
You'll never make them ALL happy.
If you cannot get a solid answer from anyone specific...
then take SUGGESTIONS from the models.
Get a basic idea from all of their ideas, to decide which direction to go.
Remember, the girls are only on the runway for a minute or so.
And each one might models several outfits, and will be back several times.
If you promise the models that they will EACH get their OWN song...
You're going to go crazy trying to find, play, and switch songs every 60-seconds.
If you cannot get a solid answer from anyone specific...

Haven't gotten much from anyone having something to do with this event. I'm going to talk with the models to get ideas since nobody giving the event want to be of much help. Just got to do what I got to do and hope for the best.

Got to share about what happened last night. I will post pictures later. It turned out OK. My homie did a great job. I played a little as my knee was killing me. Arthritis acting up. To be fair I found out this was their first time doing a fashion show. So now I understand why they could only help a little with the music.

We basically got told to come up with what we felt would work for each scene. Beings that this was their first time I had to understand and be cool with everything. It went well and we have a job to do on June 18th. A block party. We'll be there God willing.

another gig where you can't handle the music yourself, amazing
Not just that. I wasn't moving those double 15's myself. The load in was terrible. They had a loading dock that didn't have stairs. The one that was there was concrete and you couldn't get any gear up there. The one where there was stairs you couldn't get the door open. I'm happy he was there as I said my knee was killing me. I just saw a ad on TV and put in an order for 2 knee braces to help me out. They just have to get the OK from my doctor.

It's my arthritis that was bothering me. I could hardly walk. The funny part is that when it came to the music we were given the control to do what we felt would work. When you want someone to trust you sometimes they don't and when you ask for help is the time they trust you. Go figure.

The setup was 2 Yamaha S215's, QSC 2450 amp, MC 6000 controller, laptop and Pioneer EFX 500. I love my QSC but it's not all that light. I've had that same amp since I first came back and has been in the shop once. The power button stopped working and it had to be replaced. Next time I will provide them with some lights as well. Those speakers still sound great. Just been a long time since I used them.

Glad it worked out for you

.

Sell it all and put what you get toward some Bose L1-B1 combos or something of the like.

Thanks but no thanks. It might be a lot lighter but also it's not enough to me to do a real gig with. It's one thing in a small bar or such. At a decent gig with a nice size room to me it would sound poor. Just my thoughts. I didn't even tell the room size.

Even though it was a fashion show if we were to use the Bose you suggested it wouldn't have been good enough for that large a room. The room is the Crystal Room and is large room. It's about twice the size of a 2 piece ballroom closed off. I hope you get the idea. Bose is a nice system if that's what you like. Just not my cup of tea.

Actually, it may have been more than enough for the room you were in.
Trust me it wouldn't hold up at all. I'm glad that you all like the Bose system. It's very nice and I like it. I just can't see paying that much for such a system of that size. I know it's because it's made by Bose and Bose will be costly. I just will stick with what I got because I like all of what I have. Sorry others don't agree and you have a right to feel that way. I just don't see the need to change my setup. I know how to control it so that even in a small room it won't be over kill.

I don't think anyone asked or told you to buy Bose. I do recall people offering ideas that would make things easier and better than the way you are doing them. Ultimately, it is up to you.

I was told to sell what I have and take that money and get the F1 setup. It's OK. Like I said I'm happy with what I have. Wait till you see the setup for 9-9-16. I certainly plan on having pictures and video of that event. The sound will be through the roof.

Well... actually our friendly moderator DID suggest Mix "Sell it all and put what you get toward some Bose L1-B1 combos or something of the like."... pretty good advice for someone who has difficulty setting up his TOO HEAVY equipment on his own. I think MIX is caught up in the way small PA systems look... kinda wimpy. He needs to get beyond it though. Some of the smaller, lighter systems sound really good. Nothing wrong with being old school, but he might just miss out on a good change by sticking with his old system(s).

Let's make it clear before we start. You can look at my posts over the years and see that I am not a huge fan of Bose but I do expect that someday if I remain in this business I will own them or something similar in weight and style

I know first hand that 2L1-B1 units can do a room about 9000 Sq Ft easily. I haven't done it but I have seen it done

What would you say if a client sent you this....

I just can't see paying that much for such a DJ . I know it's because it's a New Jersey DJ and NJ DJ's will be costly.....

For what you have spent in the last 5 years on gear you could probably have 3 or 4 Bose systems and you'd be able to carry them yourself

I sure hope the speakers are all the same model top and subs not one of those I'll just you use a mish mash of brands and styles of speakers set ups

The setup will be the 2 Yamaha S215's along with 4 Earthquakes. Hope that will satisfy your curiosity. Will be using an EV speaker for the monitor. Also using my QSC 2450 amp along with 2 Behringer EP 4000 amps as well to power the subs.

that's not really a 'huge set up", I used to regularly run 8 earthquakes, with 6 JBL SR4732 tops this was back when I did much bigger gigs and was a lot younger, I set this up by myself

You said when you were much younger. Also this place doesn't have an elevator. I'm just working with the best setup I have on hand that will sound great.
