Can you pronounce that? It is a rare form of cancer in the brain that has no cure.

Tonight I am DJing a fundraiser for a couple whose wedding I DJed two years ago. Jim has OLIGODENDROGLIOMA and is going through radiation after surgery that removed 30% of the tumour. They say that since it is such a slow growing type of cancer that it's probably been there for at least ten years. The doctors are giving him 5-10 years to live.

Since the wedding they had a baby boy and Jenn is once again pregnant. It is sad to see happen to good people so I took someone's advice from this site and opted to take a portion of ticket sales to a maximum. If I reach the maximum I will donate $100 to their sprint for the cure campaign in which Jim and Jenn are going to run 10 kms to raise funds for cancer awareness.

I still have the log from their wedding playlist so I think i'll bust out their first dance song tonight and a few special others.

Roaring success. They had 200 tickets printed up and sold out two weeks ago. Jim showed up in good spirits and looking well considering he is going through radiation treatments right now.

I played their first dance song and their first kiss song back to back. What thrilled them was that I pulled out all the special request songs from their wedding day.

We raised a lot of money for cancer research and a lot of donations were made to help this fine young family cope with the financial strains this ordeal. I knocked $150 off my regular fee, donated another $100 to the fund plus spent $50 on raffle tickets. It really makes you take stock of things watching this unfold.

I knew there was a reason I was keeping all those old wedding CDR comps. :)

Seriously, that's sweet. These are the things we remember all our lives. :)

MegaSeg archives the log from every time it is used. When we met before the wedding they handed me an unlabeled CD-R and they needed to know what track 7 was and they needed that song at their wedding. Turns out it was a party starter at their house parties so I pulled that one out too.
