Potential New DJ Light Stand Idea

A very nice find. I have seen some people fashion those themselves, but haven't seen a completed one available. The issue with that design is that it adds the weight to the top of the speaker thereby making it top heavy and unstable. Having the arch allows the weight to be transferred down to the connection point.

Agreed .. just giving a reference point for pricing for a net similar? functionality.

And just to be clear .. moments of inertia of the lighting is still above the speakers, so if someone hits the stand, the mass will act as if it's above the speaker, not below. Same as if you had a bowling ball on a stick. If you held it straight up, the weight will felt at the hand .. if you let it tilt, the weight will act as if it is at the end of the stick. So the stand will be easier to tip with the lighting above the speaker.

has to be high quality, I use K&M speaker poles, yep they are $100 each but worth every penny and you notice it the first time you use them. I prefer to buy quality once than to buy junk multiple times.

I use Ultimate Tele-lock stands when my tops are by themselves .. K&M adjustable sub poles when mounting over subs.

High quality is definitely what I am going for. Most of those t-bar style stands on the market are cheap, flimsy, crap. I want sturdy, road tested, and truly rugged.

At the moment yes, the mount is connected with bolts that tighten it in place. then the pole itself just slides in and out and tightened with a knob and pin.

I love the idea.
But keep in mind, that not all setups are symmetrical...
and not all setups allow enough headroom for something ABOVE the speakers.
